Since you have the 600, why not get a high quality 1.4x converter? The combination will be a bit more than 800 mm, and you’ll lose just 1 stop.

It should be about the same price as a 2x converter alone.

You’ll save the cost of buying a 400 mm lens, which would lose 2 stops with the 2x converter.

On my Sony RX10M4 it has a feature called Clear Image Zoom that essentially doubles the focal length to 1200mm with no image degradation. The only draw back is you have to shoot jpegs.

But the Sony FE 200-600 is just a touch better... But heavier than the whole RX10 IV.

How would you know that? Have you compared Images? Are you a Pixel Peeper? A touch better. What’s touch better?

Just an observation. I dont think that is a true 600mm. It should be more like 200mm with the rest being a crop factor. It is basically the field of view of a 600mm with the magnification of a 200mm.

How would you know that? BS! When I take a 600mm picture using this camera the data says 600mm! Don’t think they are inaccurate. Obviously you have Never used this camera..Right?

The best super zoom on the planet is 24-600mm on the RX10m4. If you are serious about lighter weight travel, the RX10 should be your next camera.

AGREED!!

I am a Nikon shooter and was excited to put the Tamron z 150-500mm lens on my z50. I was ready to do more wildlife and birds in flight photography until I spent some time with this beautiful beast….it is too darn heavy for me to hold still and I am not inclined to lug a tripod around when I get the urge to shoot some wildlife when I am close to nature. At 75 I admit I am not as strong as I’d like and holding that lens isn’t getting easier.

So I am returning it to Adorama today and exchanging it for the Sony cyber shot RX10 IV. I guess a bridge camera isn’t so bad….(right?)…..and it sure will make my sometimes forays into nature a little easier. I just hope I don’t have pangs of regret and envy when I encounter folks with those big, beautiful telephoto lens in the field.🥹

You Can’t go wrong with the Sony! I own this Wonderful camera. I’m 70 and the RX10 IV will make your excursions Much Easier without losing image quality. No worries about changing lenses. F2.4-f4 aperture.

I love my Sony RX100v . I have recently looked into the Sony HX99 for more reach but you give up a bit of image quality. But they are still better than a cell phone. The Sony RX100v and RX100vii are a bit pricy. The HX99 is reasonable. Both are slightly larger than a deck of cards.

If money is no object then the Sony RX100vii is the Best pocket camera you can buy! I own this camera so I’m not just reading off the internet.

Have you ever used a High End Smart Phone camera like Apple or Samsung? I think not!

I thought all digital images started out as raw files. Since the jpg files can be manipulated as much as raw files, what difference does it make?

Do some research! Jpg files Cannot be Manipulated like Raw files…Not even close. Where did you get this information? Totally False!

We are due to see the upcoming total eclipse soon. I am interested in getting a few shots of it. I have no knowledge concerning the filter required to do this. I don't wont to spend a lot of money since this will probably be a one time thing. I would appreciate any advise or information. Thanks.

Sam

If you are just trying to capture Totality you Don’t need a filter. A few years ago in Indiana I captured amazing pictures of Totality without any filters on my Sony camera. Good Luck

The last seconds of the game was all that mattered.

Camera brand wouldn't make a difference.

More important was what TV you had to watch it on.

No one has ever mentioned...wait for it...you can practice before the event. Gimbal vs. ball head? Degree angles? Which lens? which filter? How many stops? Camera settings? Speed bracketing? And get this...you can do it from your own backyard.

I just laid down with my Sony camera on a tripod with a Ball Head. I wore my Solar Eclipse glasses and waited for the sun to diminish. Took the glasses off and started shooting with the remote until the Sun started to get bright. No Filter on my lens. The pictures came out Great! Wasn’t to difficult for me. Good Luck!
