Difficult to choose one over another. Each UHH member has their peferences; Since I shoot real estate photos with my NEX-5n, you can guess mine. I chose it because it won the "spec wars" compared to other choices in the mirrorless world; I suggest you search Google for mirrorless, then read through the results. Here is one example: http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-EOS-M-vs-Sony-NEX-5N
One of my personal criteria was low light performance, and I have not been disappointed. There is a learning curve with this beast, but several youtube videos are excellent for the novice. I included a shot of the breakfast room in a recent listing; no PP at all.
Go to a store and handle the cameras you are considering. try to ignore the sales pressure! enjoy

I just read an article from a professional who took his Sony NEX and his old faithful Nikon DSLR on a trip through Europe. He said he didn't take the DSLR out of his bag the whole time. Probably run you about $800-900 for the kit, but check out the NEX 7 or their follow-on mirrorless cameras. the 18-55 lens works for me. I love how compact and low weight they are, and the quality of the photos can be out of sight. UHH is mostly Canon or Nikon users, but Sony is on the rise. This is a user point of view, not a pro's.

So excited to find a post on Sony here at UHH. While we are on the subject, is there any news about coming announcements in the NEX arena?

Time-tested method for buying anythng camera - related:

!. Block spousal access to bank account until completed.

2.While in account, determine current balance less outstanding payments due.

3. With available dollar limit known in hand, go to Adorama.

4. Select equipment while subtracting cost from available balance. Include shipping costs

5. When you reach zero, STOP. Await delivery.

5. Remove block from spousal access, go to corner bar. Avoid flogging

Interesting terms from Factory Repair Center:

"The digital still camera equipment registered below is guaranteed to operate according to manufacturerÂ’s specifications for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase, or we shall repair same to operate properly. This service contract may be purchased for New Products with at least ninety (90) days remaining on the original manufacturerÂ’s warranty".
Seems like they aren't interested in gray market. They have a 1-year digital camera warranty plan at "under $1,000". I am sure there are other choices tho.

Lots of foaming around trying to buy cheap. The key to gray market is to understand the manufacturer uses a gray market channel (meaning non-authorized distributor) as a way to dump excess inventory back onto the market. This usally results from miscasting demand and overbuilding.
Ask yourself one question: How risk adverse am I really?
Your new highly complex gray market camera is totally devoid of manufacturer support. I am way too conservative to be on my own in this matter. Nice to hear the good folks at B&H have their own Warranty; check it out before buying if you want a safety net. Otherwise, go for it!

I have a NEX 5n, am struggling with interior shots. Decided the flash is inadequate, am shopping for a better flash with variable settings. Suggestions welcome.
As a fellow agent, for high end properties I am now using a professional do do my interiors. In the sample below, he set up remote flashes in all three rooms, balanced them, and produced terrific photos. Since replacing my own photos(which weren't all that bad)with his, I have had 5 showings the first week. Go figure, and good luck.
Remember, dear readers, and suggestions for an affordable remote for my NEX would be appreciated.
