Hi
I bought a Canon EOS 1300D which has 2 lenses 75-300mm & 18-55mm.
I've been out & practiced with it for a short time & was getting so annoyed with it. I'm struggling to get the camera to focus even though it was on auto.

Here are a few photo's I've taken which are not the best.

Am I expecting to much too soon?

Been out practicing with my husbands camera near where I live today & a squirrel let me take photos until I got the right one :) I prefer the one with the green in the back ground rather than the sky.

I started looking at your photos and when I saw the robin I realized that it had to be in the UK 🇬🇧 not here in the the States. I had not looked at your name or where you were from until I saw the robin. BTW, our robin is really a member of the thrush family.

Hi WF2B

Hmm that's interesting about the American robin.

Next time I post I'll try & remember to put the UK as I notice a lot of the forum are from America

You've got an eye. Key in on one subject. Eliminate all other distractions in the frame. Use lens selection, camera angle, f stop, lighting, whatever it takes.

Hi Fotoartist

Thank you for your advice I will take it on board

We have “Robins” here in Wisconsin, USA, but they are giant, galumphing dinosaurs, the size of English Magpies. They are quite cute, but I’ve never had an American Robin beg for a worm, while fishing here. In the South of England, some Winter and early Spring fishing days seemed to be more appropriately named Robins Treats days? 😉

We also have Blackbirds here, but they have red and yellow flashes on their wings... and terrible tempers during nesting season. Quite unlike the genteel little birds in the UK.

Oh they are defiantly a lot bigger than our robins then.. When I stayed in Roanoke last year some of the locals called the red cardinal a robin.

Very nice photos. Really like your bird shots as we don't have any of them here. Your first flower shot is a little dark. Do you shoot in RAW? Do you do any post processing?

Hi JoAnneK01

The first flower shot was in manual macro. This one is a little lighter. Sorry as I'm new to photography I don't know what RAW is. Also these are the original shots I haven't changed them at all, except for the 1st photo which I cropped slightly
