I was transferred here in 1996 and am still here. You say those like they are bad things. Also, Sun City is where old people go to visit their parents so driving around there is especially tricky.

Great set. I am going to Kruger later this year and was wondering whether I should take my 70D or my 6D II. The 70D will give me more reach with my zoom and your photos have made me decide on that.

I took a big risk in taking only one lens. I didn't want to deal with weight or changing lenses out in the field; too much dust and time lost. I don't regret that decision at all. But I still wouldn't recommend it. Too much risk in lost opportunities.

Thanks for giving me your name. Arnold. That's much easier to spell than byuaceman. There are bigger cats but IMO none more beautiful. I hope you'll show more of your wild animal images.

Sorry I haven't responded sooner but I have posted other pictures I took while in Africa. I hope you got to see them. Just do a search on byuaceman. It was an amazing experience to be there and take pictures of them.

Excellent set!

Thank you UTMike! On another note, I have a son in Eagle Mountain and a daughter in Springville. Tell me where to go shoot pictures when I am in your neck of the woods. I've only done the drive up past Sundance. Beautiful up there!

We came across this pride of lions. They were on the hunt. The only light I had was the spot used by the tracker from the front of the vehicle. I was at the back. The 3rd pic says it's all fun and games till someone gets hurt. No one got hurt. The last shot I took while scared spitless. This lioness was walking beside our vehicle. I started taking pictures when she got within 10-12 feet of me. She heard the click of the lens, stopped and looked right at me. Not supposed to happen. I took one more but I was too scared to compose it. That is the last shot. After a few seconds, she moved on and we all breathed a sigh of relief. All shots were taken with a Canon 70D, Tamron 18-400 at ISO 6400.

We saw a lot of elephants during our trip to Africa. I fell in love with these gentle giants. Here are a few shots. A playful pair stopped to consider me then went on playing. A mother and child drinking. One decided to pose during golden hour to give me the reflection. And one showing my wife and I against a really huge one! All were taken with a Canon 70D and Tamron 18-400.

On the Chobe River in Botswana, we came across this fat croc that was about 10-12 feet long. I zoomed in and realized it was giving me the "stink eye". I didn't want to get any closer that I was in our boat. These were taken with a Canon 70D with a Tamron 18-400 lens at ISO 200.

I went to Africa with this lens in June. I have been posting pictures this past week or so. Please look at my posts for images taken with the Tamron.
