I've had great luck with viewsonic products, monitors and a projector. Now I have two 27's. I use Lightroom, Photoshop, usually both open at the same time. I do slideshow style presentations from Bridge. Always get complimentzs on the quality of my images.

Spyder pro is essential. I wouldn't bother to cal the laptop though. It's never going to relate.

I don't use AF-C much, but on my D-810 there's a menu item called focus tracking with lock on which can be set to freeze the AF-C for up to 5 seconds, say if something gets between you and your subject. Could something like this be the culprit?

Hi all,

Thanks for you reply's and comments. I'll check out "Only The Brave" for sure.

I love flying over the Sierra. Sometimes I can pick out the peaks, and nooks and crannies where I've been. But what's best is seeing all the one's where I haven't been (yet?)

That's something to think about. I've been making the fire's/smoke my enemy. Thanks.

Hi all,

I'm pleased to have found and joined this forum. It looks to be a good place, although sometimes it's a tough crowd ;-)

I'm a climber all of my adult life. I became interested in photography of climbing about ten years ago for a book project. For that I needed a camera in the one pound range so I could take it up climbs. Since the images for the book are reproduced at 6x9 or less, the Canon G10 nailed the job. The images project well enough too, which matters to me. Now I am embarking on a project to create a collection of images of my playground for the last several decades, California's Sierra Nevada Mountains. The big grand pictures, sunsets, clouds, etc. exist in the thousands. My goal is to capture the things one might not otherwise notice.

I'm starting out with a Nikon D-810. I have the 24-70 f-2.8VR lens and the 70-300VR. My biggest challenge right now, my favorite time of year for light and foliage, is all the friggin' smoke. California's fires make smoke, and it goes up into the mountains. :-(
