Suggestion -- Save your money -- Crop your ff image as much as his camera cropped his -- You will now be "just as close" as his shot !!

This is an ill-informed comment. Steve Perry (among others) have shown that generally, cropping a FF image will reduce the total resolution much lower than the equivalent image taken on a crop sensor camera.

I tend to agree with all the comments given so far. I do understand that this model is "free," wanting to have her images taken, and generally setting her own poses. I think this is a wonderful opportunity for both of you.

Now, being totally honest: Your model is too brash....Unflattering red hair and lipstick...pock marked face...chunky build....and at least to me, generally unattractive. (Can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.)

You have included shots where her eyes are closed and a foot is cut off (#2); very unnatural poses; several taken in landscape format when portrait format would have been much better; inappropriate/cluttered background....and who takes portraits in a snow storm?

Sorry to be so blunt but you asked for feedback.

One quick thought. Several have mentioned eating with extended families and friends/neighbors, especially on Sundays. The size of the average American family has decreased since the mid 1900's....and extended families are now relatively rare. Families moved to the suburbs; they could afford multiple cars; radio and TV happened; two world wars brought back customs and foods from other nations; life became busy. Then, fast-food restaurants happened. Family-sized tables were replaced by tables for two. (Look around the next time you stop at your local Mickey D's). Raising one's own crops, fruits, dairy and meat products became unnecessary....it was available in cans or fresh in markets. There has been a steady decline in organized religion, and the customs they once embodied. People have become less thankful for their blessings, and more apt to expect someone to provide them with everything.

Yes, my dad, mom, sister and I ALWAYS ate the evening meal together. No excuses. This was the time to talk....and some of those talks were not pleasant. "How did you do on your spelling test today....or anyone know anything about the new dent in the car?" were not easily skirted topics.

But then....schools had a strict dress code....we stood for the pledge to the flag and a moment of silence...there was a thought for the day....and it was good.

Through all this, Liberalism happened. I'm going to stop now.

I watched a documentary on Netflix last night - "Beyond the Curve." It was about the growing popularity of the flat earth movement. It was disappointing. I expected members to offer their "proof." The only thing they did in terms of proof was saying something vague about planes flying in the southern hemisphere and being able to see buildings in the distance. Actually, I'm surprised they used the term "hemisphere."

They did put a lot of emphasis on two scientific experiments, one using a $20,000 gyroscope and the other using lasers over a distance of several miles. These two experiments were going to prove that the earth was flat. The gyro experiment didn't turn out the way they wanted, so they tried it two more times in different ways. Now they are planning to try something else with the gyroscope. It was the same with the laser experiment. When they didn't get the result they wanted, they said they would have to try it a different way. So, if you want your calculator to say that 1 + 1 = 3, modify your calculator.

What's scary about this group is that they reject facts. As more people accept the idea that the earth is flat, there will be more people willing to reject facts and believe conspiracy theories. Supposedly, NASA and all the governments of the world are involved in a conspiracy to maintain the idea of an earth shaped like a ball. This great lie has been maintained for hundreds of years. A reporter asked their "king" why they couldn't just travel to the edge of the world. He said they are getting funding to do just that.

Their king said that doing a search on Google used to bring up 50,000 items. Now, you get 90 million. Stupidity, gullibility, and rejection of facts are dangerous characteristics of a population. For example, we didn't really land on the moon, lizard people are ruling us, the government is holding aliens at Area 51, there is a secret alien base on the dark side of the moon, chemtrails are poisoning us, the shooting at the Sandy Hook school never happened.

Raised with Italian mom and German dad. Always ate together. No excuses tolerated.

It is still very much an Italian tradition.

Very nice image.

John Chestnut Preserve, a County Park on Brooker Creek/Lake Tarpon, Pinellas County Florida. Very nice place to shoot. Not far away, is Brooker Creek Preserve, Pinellas County's largest park at 8,500 acres.

Cameras are packed in a way that you can open the box and put everything back just as new. You don't need to break any seal. So when I open a new camera I keep everything and note how they go together so I can repack them back just as they came.

Or, you could take a few quick cell phone shots of the box, contents, etc so you can reverse the unpack/pack routine. Just a thought.

BTW: Whenever I take something apart that is unfamiliar or has lots of parts, I generally take cell phone pics to help me get it back together properly.

Why is it wrong? If they are separate companies, as you say, why should Nikon USA provide services for products for which they received no money?

Yup, let's just all demand that Nikon USA do warrantee work for free! Who wants to protest with me? Anyone? anyone?

The wife and I are going to the big flower show in Philadelphia and I can't decide which camera to take. The wife will be using my Canon SL2 with an EF-S 18-200 lens. I was thinking about taking my 5D IV with the 28-300L or my D7200 with Nikkor 28-300 attached or my M50 with the 28-300L attached. I used the 5D IV / 28-300L last year but, even though I got excellent photos, that camera lens combo is quite heavy. I'm leaning towards the D7200 because it's really good in lower light conditions and it's smaller and lighter and has higher resolution than the D500. I like the 28-300 because even on a crop body it's plenty wide for the flower show and the 300 end comes in quite handy. The Nikkor lens isn't as good as the Canon lens but it is good enough.

I don't know you, so this comment is unfair of me. But, since I don't know you, your post seems more like you just want everyone to know what optical toys you own, rather than actually being interested in feedback. I believe any of the equipment you bloated about will do a fine job, if you do your part.

Sometimes the differences though real do not really matter in practice. Perhaps Canon and Nikon are behind the times or want you to send in the lenses so they can make more money?

The issues that OP has illustrated is exactly why Therapy Dogs + Handler must pass periodic evaluation exams. Our bichon is a therapy dog and my wife is the handler. She is also active in the evaluation organization. These controls are not a responce to government-anything.

Unadulterated Bullshit! There is no standard for Therapy Dogs.

I have those and also the 14-24. I don't use the 14-24 much because it's bulky and doesn't fit well in my bag. Most of my really wide angle shots are of static subjects so I can just stitch several shots together. I stick with Nikon lenses because the other brands I tried didn't measure up as well.

I got the 24-70 and 70-200 about 12 years ago and they served me very well. A couple years ago they came out with new versions which (IMHO) are even better because they have the new generation of VR (which the old 24-70 didn't have). The VR on the old 70-200 could give you about a stop of improvement (you could use a slightly slower shutter speed). The new VR gives you several stops of improvement. I have gotten reasonable photos with the 200-500 hand held at 1/10 second at the 500mm end.

Of course the drawback to the newer lenses is the newer price level.

I agree. I guess it all depends on what your typical subjects are, what your tolerance for mediocrity is, and your budget. I have found that Nikkor lenses seem to match Nikon cameras, better than non-OEM lenses....faster and more accurate auto focus; maintain resale value better; no unexpected "glitches" in operation/performance; etc.

Do you suppose there is a reason that some manufacturers recommend/sell "Tap-In Stations" and "USB Docks"....and Nikon doesn't? (Just something to think about in your spare time)....
