I got my granddaughter a Sony DSC-W830 and she loves it. About $120 at B&H
Judging by the weeds and rust on the rails, these are not an active rail line ,but still a bad idea. The train always wins these confrontations.
The lens is generally more important than the camera. You have a aps-c format camera so I would invest in the lens first , but look a full frame lenses for when you may want to upgrade the boby
