I had both lenses. I found that the VR and focus acquisition on the Nikon 200-500 f5.6 is far superior to the Tamron 150-600. I spent a lot of time adjusting the Tamron with the tap-in console and software. I got the lens very sharp when using it on a tripod, when setting it up (Very Sharp at all focal lengths), but when it came to real world shooting, it would misfocus or the VC wouldn't work well. I did get some very good shots with the Tamron, but not consistent. When I'm using the Nikon, most of my shots are sharp. I amazed how many keepers I get with the Nikon D850 and the Nikon 200-500 combination. Lens selection and technique is very critical with with the D850. My later copy of the Nikon 200-500 needed no fine tune adjustment (I did many test with it. I'm a pixel peeper). My AF Fine Tune setting is at Zero.
I recently replaced my Tamron 160-600 G2 with the Nikon 200-500 f5.6. The stabilization is much better on the Nikon, focus aquisition is a bit slower on the Nikon, but much more accurate. The images on the Nikon are consistantly sharper. I'm much happier with the results I'm getting with the Nikon, many more keepers.
The only thing I miss is that the Tamron had a built in Arca mount on the foot of the collar.
I'd get the Nikon over the Tamron. Nikon has a $140 instant rebate on that lens now.
Thanks Dave, I live in Boynton Beach Florida, near the Loxahatchee National Refuge. There is always lots of wildlife to photograph.
This was taken with my Nikon D850 and a Nikkor 300mm PF. @ f4 ISO 280. This Wood Stork has been coming to my backyard patio door for the last week, looking in, interested in seeing what we are doing. We don't feed it, but maybe my neighbors do.
I have the RRS BH-30. It's small and light and works great with a load up to 15lbs. It sells for under $300.
It's perfect for wildlife with a monopod and works well with my tripod. It has great design and it is top notch build quality.
I agree, I have a D750 and it thake beautifully sharp images. I don't think that having a AA makes that much difference.
Z6 and D750 both have a filter. They are both 24MP full frame cameras like the D780. The D780 looks like it uses the same sensor as the Z6. I would think it has a AA filter.
I have a BenQ and love it.
Got this at Green Cay, Boynton Beach Florida
I got mine though State Farm, it was very reasonable.
