UHH owner "Admin" has made it clear that no nudity is allowed anywhere on UHH except the one section designed to display it. UHH owner "Admin" has made it clear that no politics are allowed in General Chit Chat. I couldn't find any specific reference to religious content, however.

Most volunteer-managed sections have guidelines relative to their specialty (such as Black and White not allowing color) and references to courtesy and constructive feedback. I didn't see the post being discussed here, and being a current manager of Digital Artistry and former manager of Post Processing Forum, I'm not going to second-guess the AI Creation manager's decision nor say what I "might" have done.

Admin has shown a willingness to create new sections when someone steps forward to volunteer to manage - hence, our 50+ forums to date So, a new "AI Artistry and Photography - all religions welcomed" might be a possibility.

Bottom line is UHH is a private entity. We are guests.

This morning Bill Hancock posted an absolutely stunning AI image of Jesus Christ on AI Artistry and Creation. It was summarily removed by the Moderator because it allegedly violated the Forum rules. Bill then posted the same image to the Christian Photography Group but was told AI images were not allowed.

We now face a conundrum. If the image was a photograph of a painting, it could be posted in the Photo Gallery or Chit-chat with no questions asked. I am forced to ask if the image was removed from AI Artistry and Creation because of its religious context. Did I miss the prohibition of religious images on UHH or the relegation of them to the Christian Photography Group?

((( Warning of Long Post )))

Dear Curmudgeon...

My following comments are for you & others on this 'thread'

As a former member of Law Enforcement... and someone who has had an extensive background in Criminal Law as well as Civil Law... I want to 'step in here' and add my 2¢ as a private citizen...

Now, having said that... I must declare that I am NOT an attorney, and I offer no legal advice.
... My only offering here and below is that of ... "Personal Opinion" and no more !!!

If you post... you stated:
.... "The relegation of them to Christian Photography Group?"
...... Implying that somehow moderators of UHH are "violating the 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which protects the "law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech" which is a direct quote from that document of the U.S. Constitution...

The point which I wish to make here to you and the members of this forum is that...
....... The above "articles" of the U.S. Consitution" were designed to 'protect the citizens' from the action as committed by the "U.S. Government" against its peoples and the U.S. Consitution does not regulate exactly how any 'private entity' must act... i.e. UHH...

Putting it in a different context... UHH, as a private "Florida Profit/Non-Profit Corporation" AKA/ Ugly Hedghod, Inc., as defined by its "Articles of Incorporation" dated back on Jan 15, 2012, with its original President of the Corp being Konstantin Goudkov, who lived in Miami Florida... and he is still Director & President according to its last corporate fillings listed with the State of Florida in 2023.

As such, UHH or Ugly Hedgehog, Inc... is viewed as a 'private individual/entity' and that entity is regulated by its Director/President and/or any/or all of any Board of Directors if that is one...

In light of the above... The operations of the UHH website are 'controlled' by the 'Rules' which are promulgated by either the 'Board of Directors' or the Director/President himself... If you don't get the resolution to your question... you must 'discover' the 'pecking order' for the 'chain of command' and follow that to the top... which just might be the Corporate President himself... Hummm!

The bottom line of what I am saying here is: "Regulation of Speech" or the "Rules" governing this UHH website is a 'matter of the above' and the entity... NOT Laws, ... I.E., YES... "The Admins & the entity CAN regulate and STOP free speech on its website..." because the 'Use of the UHH Website" is governed by the "Terms of Agreement" as established by UHH and that is a private organization...

The problem here is that there are "Rules" for each of the "Forum Catagories" and, there are "Admins" for each of the "Forum Catagories" that regulate the categories... I have not done any research, but we don't know who makes the "Rules" for each category... but -- whoever does make these "Rules" is in fact... "The Regulator" and they set the 'Tone' for each group... Like it or not.

The bottom line here regarding 'speech' is:
.... "UHH is a private entity, and the operation is governed by the entity" ... not government...

The First Amendment primarily regulates the government and restricts its (government) ability to impede free speech. It generally does not directly regulate the private sector's actions when it comes to speech. Private entities, including corporations, have more flexibility in regulating speech within their own spaces compared to the government.

One relevant Supreme Court case that illustrates this distinction is Marsh v. Alabama (1946)

In Closing... Your comment and/or concerns should first be with the Admin of the 'posted forum' and if that does not resolve the issue with "rules & regulations" you can make it 'public' by 'discussing it in OPEN on the given forum... Unless your remarks are removed by the Admin... which they have the power to do...

When you signed onto this website... You and others agreed to the "Terms of Agreement" which means... they (Admin) can do what they want to do unless over-ruled by the "Board of Directors" and/or the "Director/President" which as of last year was the originator of the UHH site... Mr. Konstantin Goudkov of Miami, Flordia...

BTW... All of the above personal information is a "Matter of Public Records" as listed with the Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations" and is public information on their website...

One final comment...
... It is my humble opinion that an appropriate way to "Air your Concerns" is to put this matter out in the wide open, on the 'Public Forum' because... to my knowledge, there is "NO Rule" which forbids this type of 'Discussion in General'......... YES, the Admin of this site can 'take it down' just like, I am fully aware that any Admin has the "Power" to take my comments down... and let me repeat... This is a private site... regulated by the 'Admins' and the President of the Corporation......

The above is IMHO and my ¢/cents..... and yes, might be taken down... Oh Well...

I will continue to follow this post out of curiosity... just to see what happens...

Cheers to everyone here

Also, thanks to everyone who responded to my questions, particularly to those who have actual experience with both HD and SDD's. What I took from your advice is that I should probably get at least 1 SDD because of speed particularly if I have a large amount of data. Second, I should buy multiple HD's for BU (several times).
My only experience with trying to get lost data from a HD was years ago when I sent the drive to a business recommended by my computer repairman. I was quoted a price of about $1000. After about 1 month they sent it back and said they could not recover it.
Thanks everyone

Hi Toby, I got your PM & Thanks so much...

Also, in your above post, you spoke about: .... "... lost data from a HD was years ago"... & You were quoted a price of about $1000. After about 1 month they sent it back and said they could not recover it...."

That is EXACTLY what happened to me over 7 years ago... when I had a set of "Raided" hard drives both 'go bad' and I sent them off with a quote of $1,2000... They send them back, and I still have those 'bad' drives to this day...... ha ha ha ha..

The above made me so 'anal' about my backup system, and I have multiple backups... The bottom line is I don't favor anyone "National Brand" over another... the KEY is plenty of Backups

There Is an old saying... Not "If" your hard drive fails, but "When" you had drive fails...

The above is how I look at the situation, and I do NOT take a chance...

Followup Chadp...

In the last several years, I have been the victim of 'identity theft' for a host of reasons...
... Although, I have - in fact - NOT lost any money, the time that I have consumed is horrendous

Because of the above, my four (yes 4) credit score accounts have been 'locked' down for a long time,
... And, I make it proactive to NOT, leave any CC on File in the 'wallets' of any online companies (except 1)

In addition to the above, especially with Adobe, I buy the 1-year subscription plan during Black Friday
... And get a discount without having to put a card on file...

YES... Just a different way of doing things, BUT, this 'On-Line Stuff' is getting under my skin, and the older I get, and the more 'tech' we see, the more I just want to crawl in a hole and hide from the outside world...

One more answer to the above, and something which I have done, is to sign up for one of the 'data removal services' which we are starting to see more and more of today... Heck, it was only $44 bucks for 1st year... and came recommended by NordVPN which I am a member of........... So, I said, what the heck, and just give it a try...

Let's see...

Now I am confused! I recently spoke with a young computer science student about back up drives. His opinion was that hard drives were better because they were cheaper, lasted longer and the data could usually be recovered, although expensive. SSD he said, do not last as long and when they fail the data is not recoverable. I would like to hear comments from those of you who have had ACUTAL EXPERIENCE with both. Thank you

Toby...

In your post, you said:
..... "I would like to hear comments from those of you who have had ACTUAL EXPERIENCE with both."

Hers is my 2¢ - I have had all and experienced 'failure' on many, including RAID, and IDE..

My current situation is:
1 - 1TB M.2 SSD which is C: Drive with OS and all EXE only
2 - 4TB M.2 SSD which is I: Drive for 'Interim' data - i.e. Current Images only 2020-2024
3 - 12TB IDE Drive which is H: Drive for 'Historical' data - i.e. Older Images before 2020

4 - 18TB External USB which is used to have a 'backup' of all of the above
5 - 25TB External NAS via home network - which is used to have 2nd backup of all of the above
6 - Cloud Storage via BackBlaze - which is used to have a 3rd backup of all of the above...

In closing -- I have 'Backups' and I have backups... ha ha ha ha...
..... And, when I lost my first RAID NAS some 7 years ago,
..... Brand is NOT critical, as long as you have 'multiple backups' AND, I do.
..... I swore I would never be caught with my backup down (and dead)

Any questions, let me know -- Hard Drives are 'cheap insurance' these days compare to 'trying to recover'

YES... I know there are many other ways it can be done, my thought is everyone is responsible for their own... and what you choose is "OK" for you...

It is not a 'tenses' issue... See the below description of 'Bitcoin' and realize this is a 'play on words'

========== Per ChatGPT AI:
... "Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency, also known as a cryptocurrency. It was created in 2009 by an unknown person or group of people using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoin transactions are recorded on a public ledger called a blockchain, and it operates without the need for a central authority or government. Bitcoin can be used for various transactions, including online purchases, investments, and remittances. The supply of Bitcoin is limited to 21 million coins, making it a deflationary asset. Bitcoin's value is determined by supply and demand in the market, and it is known for its price volatility..."
