......I thought Roses were Red, but now I see Pink, White, others(?) too. Soon I will know enough to be a florist. BTW, how come I haven't seen any Carnations? I think I could ID them, and thought several of my pix were of them. Anyway, ready or not, here comes Part 8 of NAME THAT FLOWER!!

I am learning a lot from you. First, that I like some flowers so much I keep taking their pictures. Second, that a lot of flowers (tulips) have many varieties. Third, I suspect you may be making up some names (Calibrachoa) where the flower is too beautiful for such a name. What is dead nettle?? Part 6 later today.......

What was added to the revival that wasn’t said during the original run?

I think you are nothing but a troll trying to stir things up.

A troll? I have belonged to UHH since 2014. Stir things up? How? by reading and responding to a few old threads? Where is the harm in that? Others have responded, and they could have just ignored it if they thought it had no value. So could have you. But you are one of those who never can resist a cheap shot. So fling all the arrows you want, I will continue to enjoy the threads here, old and new.

I revived it. Seems there is still life in some of these dormant posts. After all, just because something was talked about a year ago doesn't mean there isn't something that can't be added.

I have always thought of a walk around lens as a compact, light weight, general purpose lens to carry on strolls and take on picnics, etc. Something like 24-85mm or 28-105mm.

Lately I’ve seen recommendations like 18-400mm or 28-300mm which strikes me as overkill for a walk. They seem to me more like one size fits all lenses.

Is there a consensus on what makes a good walk around lens?

IMO a walk around lens should be light and compact, and generally is not geared toward any specific photo goal or event, but more of a target of oppurtunity lens. I have used 18-55, 28-80 and 35-105 and all pretty much do the job. I have a 28-300 that pretty much covers the majority of situations, but is too heavy to qualify. Anyway, that is what I would define as a walk around lens.

Such a fabulous group of images 💰💰💰💰💰

Thanks, I took them all, mostly with my 18-55 kit lens, which is good on close-ups. Also a few others with macro tubes or manual lenses. Can you name any of these flowers? I know few if any of them, (wouldn't know a pansy from a venus fly trap) and have been glad for the feedback so far.

Seems you are the most informed. I see that there are certain flowers I keep taking pix of. So forgive me if I keep repeating myself. I am being pilloried for responding to old threads. I like what I like.
