Should be easily recognized by the LOL generation.
But at my age if I rolled on the floor I might not be able to get up.

Not sure what all those acronym's stand for? I'm from the LOL generation.

The question is simple. Without acronyms. Describe the cable. Give information about how the cable works. Who sells it. Who makes it.

If the cable exists, it will be of great interest to the photographic community. If it does not exist, I will have to agree with Frank that you are a troll, just churning the discussion with pure nonsense for your own purposes.

Must have to reverse the cable end to end.

Please give us more information on this cable you refer to. Who makes it? Who sells it? Website? Link? Reviews?

OK, the labs are closer waiting for commencement to be over this weekend. I think you are using a RAW to Jpeg cable or you might just have a RAW to B&W cable installed. Make sure you are using a RAW to RAW cable connecting your camera to your download device, ie, card reader/computer.

??????????????????

Never heard of a raw to [some different format] cable. Do you have a source for one?

I'm downloading from the card.

Just open an image that was shot in raw, it's raw till you

By 'show us', I mean demonstrate how it's done. Screenshots would be helpful, and in addition, demonstrate how the resulting image differs from the camera-produced jpeg.

(Also let us know what platform you're using: Windows or Mac).

Directly to your browser.

The only thing that might show you (depending on the browser) is the embedded preview, which is the same as the camera-produced jpeg, processed by the camera using the settings you have provided.

You had to insert the film carrier under a spring-loaded back that held it tightly against the back of the camera. Then you had to pull the cover out to make the film available for exposure. After taking the photo, you slid the cover back in place, removed the carrier, flipped it over and repeated the process to expose the other sheet of film on the opposite side.

As you can imagine, the photographer had to lug a number of those two sided carriers around along with the big camera, flash bulbs and "D" size batteries. Being a photographer was a lot of work...

As I recall, in the late '50s there was a 10 or 12-pack of film that could be used in place of the 2-film carrier. It required another style of carrier, but it fit right in where the old style was used. You would place a pack into the new carrier and pull out the cover, then pull out a paper tab which uncovered a sheet of film. When that one was exposed you pulled out the next paper tab which moved a new sheet into place. The last tab would put another cover sheet over the film and you could take the pack out and insert a new one. If you didn't use all the film in the pack you could put the normal cover back and take the pack out and use it up later.

I shot a couple weddings for impecunious friends in the '60s. I probably only got about 30 shots from each wedding. Strictly amateur stuff at the time but both marriages lasted more than 50 years. The amateur photos did not affect the viability of the union.

That's true of a lot of antique things. I probably bought 10 used tractors over my farm career. Every one cost me more than the original owner paid for the new tractor. Inflation. The cost of a tractor is the maintenance, not the capital. You could probably make a similar statement for almost every antique thingy you use on a regular basis. A friend had a number of antique cars that he drove regularly. He had to maintain a machine shop to do maintenance (making your own replacement parts, including bearings and brake pads).

On the other hand, I had a John Deere model B tractor. They were made from about 1935 until 1952. In the '90s I could still get parts for them. 10 years is old for a car. 50 years is middle age for a tractor.

Not necessary. You leave the camera at home and take the shot from four miles away.

Have you tried updating your GPS device? Ya update your camera? Ya update your iPone? Ya update your vehicle with fresh oil & filter from time to time?

The GPS is built into the car. Updates are not free. The map is on a disk (I think it's under the driver's seat). Last I checked I could purchase a new disk from the dealer with a new map (probably not more than one year out of date) for about $250. I use Google maps on my phone and the map is updated continually. It doesn't cost me anything (directly -- I'm sure Google finds a way to monetize it all).

And the program is built into the car. I expect it is possible to update the program to improve the algorithms, but again, it's something that the dealer has to do. And it will cost.

There is an Arthur Clark short story in which a satellite with memory chip is launched successfully. After a few moments all contact with all satellites is lost. The reason, the last launch completed enough memory for the satellites to function independently as a brain and no longer needed human input.

I am of the opinion that a brain is much more than just memory.

The real problem is that we don't understand creativity. What makes people create new things? That has to be the ultimate goal of AI. What caused you to come up with a new idea? Was it something you ate? Something your spouse said to you? Something you learned in school 75 years ago that just popped into your meat memory because a cosmic ray triggered a neuron? How do we emulate things like that? Is it purely a random process?

A while back I mentioned the ultraviolet catastrophe in a post. I was about to add 'q.v.' to the post (latin abbreviation for 'quod vide', meaning basically 'look it up') but then Google popped into my head because that is how we all look things up these days so I 'invented' the term 'q.g.' instead ('latin' for quod Google). I can claim that I invented it because I had never seen that term before (or at least I don't remember seeing it). It doesn't mean I was the first to invent it. But I believe it counts as creativity. And I can't explain how it happened.

(I can't say that my creativity levels exceed that example very often).

I don't think I envy that camera. My current camera takes excellent pictures of my cat.
