Take a card into a camera store, snap some photos with the card in a point & shoot camera, print.

I know several professional photographers that use the Sony RX100 series cameras with 1" sensors or OM Systems micro 4/3 cameras.

I have an excellent problem. I purchased a Nikon Z5, and then upgraded to a Z8. Wonderfully, my wife started wanting to go out on shoots with me. Now, the challenge is having enough lenses for both of us.

We shoot outdoors, primarily landscapes, birds, and flowers. We have the wide-angle side covered. I have given her my Nikon 24-200 4-6.3. I have been using the Nikon Z 100-400 f.5-5.6 VR S. The 100-400 is a little long. I am considering the Nikon 70-200 2.8 S. The reviews are great, but the lens is expensive and big.
I can afford the lens, but don't know want to be wasteful. Any suggestions?

GREAT NEWS!

A year and a half ago I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. After three operations and treatment (and six months out from the last operation) I went in today for a checkup. As of now, I am cancer free. I had been dreading this appointment.

What a great way to start the New Year. Praise the Lord.

REALLY Great News!

Got a Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary lens (Canon EF Mount) a few years ago. The other day when out shooting with it. I got a error 01 with it. Cleaning the contacts on both the lens and camera body did not help. When I got back home and tried the lens on one of my other bodies I got the same error 01. Looking at the lens itself I noticed is no longer is wide open when looking at the shutter. It looks like it is still open to the f/9 that I was using when the error occurred.

Do you think that this lens is worth fixing and where would you send it to be fixed? Are there good 3rd party repair businesses or should I just send it to Sigma? How much would you spend to have it repaired 25%, 50%, 75% of the replacement cost of the lens. It looks like a used lens would run about $800.00 (Like new condition)

The reason I have and want to keep the EF mount lens is because I have several older dSLR bodies including my R50. I want to be able to use the lens with any of them.

This is the first time I have ever had a lens die and it is a bummer for sure.

Thanks in advance for your comments and reasonable suggestions.

Yeah... Well... I threw it out there for anyone who is looking for a new computer for serious photo/video editing. However, I do expect Apple to release new M3 Mac minis and M3 Pro Mac minis in the Spring, along with new MacBook Air M3 models.

I have an M1 MacBook Air (8 cpu, 8 gpu, 16 npu, 16 GB memory, 1TB storage) that is plenty sufficient for LrC/Ps and light 4K video editing in Final Cut Pro. I have never been able to make it choke. It barely ever gets warm, and it has NO FAN. Apple Silicon is amazing.

I concur. I also have the identical MacBook Air. I have used it with the BenQ SW321C monitor with no problems.

My desktop is wearing out and I am buying a new desktop. I use Lightroom Classic. I will use a Benq, 32 inch monitor. It has been recommended that I buy a gaming computer for picture quality and speed. I am especially interested in picture quality. What computer and/or computer components do you recommend? I am already committed to buying 32GS of RAM. Thanks

You don't need a gaming computer. The average computer can deal with LR just fine. You won't notice a significant difference in processing photos in LR with a super computer. Very fast computers are only necessary for video processing or processing thousands of files in a batch (which may save you 30+ seconds). The computer speed has zero impact on image quality. The 32GB of RAM has been shown to be a good choice in a variety of tests.

And of course "Temporal" is the change in temperature as time passes.

Temporal relates to time, not temperature.

I get confused with this subject. In my system, ACR is locked to Photoshop. The only way ACR gets updated is when Photoshop updates and it is automatic.

How do you update ACR separately from Phototshop?

(I have an almost new Samsung S23. I am delighted with how well it works with the Lightrooms and Photoshop!)

Camera Raw is a separate application from Photoshop. A Camera Raw update for Photoshop was available five days ago and a Photoshop update was available today.

I recently bought a camera capable of 61 MP, and also capable of two lower settings, 36 and 19. I normally use the 61 MP setting; that is why I bought the camera. But I have noticed that when I am shooting in a very low light situation (hence the need for high ISO), the ISO (set to Auto) my camera comes up with is higher at 61 MP than if I lower my resolution to 36 or 19, with the aperture and SS the same. What exactly is happening? Is there a trade off between the high resolution and the ISO noise? Should I lower my MP setting if I know I am going to be shooting in a very low light situation (a theater, for example)? What are the tradeoffs here?

Thanks in advance for the usual wise information.

I don't know what camera you are using, but the Leica Q3 has lower noise at 36 MP because they process the 61 MP in a way that reduces noise in the resulting 36 MP file.

After several years of good performance, my LRC is now crashing several times every day (past two weeks). Adobe agent conversations have not helped. After two hours of chat with an agent, NADA. He had me make adjustments to my computer graphics card which he thought was the problem. Needless to say, it didn't work. Also, I get a message from Adobe every crash, saying an error has occured, send my contact info, and they will be back to me.
Have never heard back. I am ready to switch to another program, but hate the idea of learning a new system. Any suggestions?

Before you update any software, it is a good idea to make a backup of the current version with a slightly modified file name. Since it is too late for you to use this approach, try using Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) which is the front end of Photoshop. ACR and Lr use the same processing engine but have a slightly different user interface. No guarantee that this will solve your problem but it is worth a try, especially if you are one or more versions behind in your version of Photoshop.

What monitor? Some can be calibrated; some can't. Did the monitor come with a reference manual? As a last resort, contact customer service for your monitor and ask them how to calibrate it.
