I just can't seem to catch its' majesty.
Great shots. Try increasing your exposure compensation slightly and use a vivid setting on your camera if there is one. it may help the colors pop a little more

bird sculpures
I've seen the Black Vultures around here do the same thing. They do this to dry wet wings and occasionally to catch the wind to cool off.

You’re right. It’s usually the Eagles hogging the action but the cold weather has forced the shad too deep for them. Osprey and Cormorants can get them. The Eagle action will start up when the weather warms up a little.
