I shot several pictures that I was able to stitch together, but the resulting shot had a lot of circular patterns in the sky or that's where they are most noticed. I've attached one of the pans that has minimal PS work on it. I know there are many issues that need to be worked on, like spots and other things, but the patterns is what I don't know how to resolve or know exactly what caused them. I tried several times to also post a processed image that shows the patterns better, but for whatever the reason, UHH won't accept it saying there are internal errors. Yes, I've told the admin about it, but nothing resolved yet. If you take the attached, you can ramp up the "dehaze" and various other sliders in PS and see what I'm talking about. Anyone know the cause, solution, prevention? This is made from 7 images and there are probably 7 of the patterns in the pan, so it came from each individual image probably. Thanks for taking a look.

While I'm not against used because I have bought both new and used, I will say that I have been able to use and trust my Godox flashes and if you are choosing between new and used and the prices are about the same, why not buy new? The Godox are generally cheap in price, but perform as well as bigger name brands. I have two Godox and a Canon flash. I use the two Godox more frequently than the Canon flash.

If you didn't know, there are many natural sites in the area around Kimball. The Fiery Gizzard (near Tracy City), Foster Falls, Sewanee Natural Bridge, Buggy Top Cave, The Stone Door and Savage Gulf, and The Walls of Jericho to name a few.

While I'm from Oak Ridge and living in Knoxville, my wife is from Tracy City, just up the hill from Kimball.

I've checked and changed a few settings, waiting now on it to finish with the card that's been loading for HOURS. Once that is through, I'll restart LR (with a catalog back up) and see where we are. So far, it isn't much faster, but at least I now have access to the pictures.

Thanks. Yes, I haven't provided very much other than complaining. I'll try the chat with Adobe.

Regarding how I imported and do the images exist, I import from the card(s) into a folder set up through LR. It takes a little longer than forever to get them in, have it build previews, etc. While all that is taking place, I am able to view and start processing pics like I've always been able to do. It was after I got them all imported (2 cards) and exited LR with the catalog back up completed, then came back to LR that it showed the folder and the correct number of pictures in it, but the "No photos in selected folder" message came up. If I do a find in explorer for that folder, there are all the pictures. Actually there were more images showing than I had imported (3790 or so instead of 2754), but I couldn't view them on LR.

There are other folders that do the same and there are grayed out folders that you can also see on the screenshot. I know that all the pictures exist, just don't understand the accessibility issue.

While I have used LR for several years, it is getting very slow (could be computer issue) and now I'm having trouble seeing photos that have been imported. I'll import pictures and can see them, will exit LR and back up the catalog on the way out. On return, the folder I'm trying to see will have the correct number of pictures listed next to the folder name, but the viewing area will say what I titled this topic. I've been to Adobe's forum for help and saw where others have had this issue and a solution was provided that got them straightened out, but it didn't work for me or I'm not tech savvy enough to follow the instructions. I posted a question there and was told that it was probably a capitalization problem and was given a link to the LR Queen that explained how to correct it. Well, that didn't help me or again, I didn't know how to follow the instructions or because it didn't seem to be quite my symptoms.

I'm currently trying to import the photos again in a new catalog. Thought this would go quicker, but nope. Also thought this might solve the visibility issue and it might, but it is still grinding away, so I'll have to wait and see. There are 2754 pictures from an event I shot this past weekend, but if I can't view them........

Any starting points for an old guy?

This past weekend, I shot a father-daughter dance. Other than candids and some portraits, I didn't know what would be expected. They asked for a group shot in a dark room, where I had been shooting the candids. I put on my 20mm and got up on the stage which was as high as I could have gotten and took the attached. Used my flash shooting straight up. Is it as good as it could have been? No, but it was adequately lit and the folks I shot it for were happy. I didn't pose them, but might should have moved them closer to the stage except then I would have probably had to shoot two shots and stitched them together to get everyone.

Here is what I tried a time or two when I was at work. I just retired, but worked at a facility that had a large security force with guard gates, guards in flack jackets, automatic weapons, etc. I would constantly get all the calls we all get from everything from the extended car warranty stuff to home security systems which is the one I played with. I wasn't very successful, but in their inquiries, they would ask if I had or wanted a new home security system. I would try to get them to come to my workplace (my home as far as they are concerned) to evaluate a new system for me. I would tell them that they would come through a gate, but just to drive on through because the security would be expecting them to come. They would then have a patrol car with lights flashing pull behind them but not to stop since they were just being escorted, etc.

Never quite got anyone to come out, but not due to my lack of trying.......

I always thought it must be the camera. Afterall, when I show what I think is a good picture to someone else, they always say "you must have a good camera".

While I love most aspects of photography and enjoy seeing other's work, I don't get abstract in photography or about anything. I may be wired differently, but I seldom understand it or am drawn to it. I've been to many art museums, going with my family and I normally don't see the greatness that others see in paintings, famous ones. I've sometimes listened in on a description of why a particular painting is great, but I didn't get it. Obviously, I'm more drawn to a photograph than a painting due to the fact that a photo captures an absolute of what was seen from one perspective anyway. A painting may do the same, but it has more interpretation put into it than a photo does.

When entering photo competitions, I am always wondering what the judges thought when they liked or didn't like my work. I seldom get opinions other than the one I stated at the top of this. I do like the fact that I can get critiqued here which is something I really appreciate about this site.

There are sections outside the Smoky Mountains NP in NC where you can drive past many waterfalls visible from your car. https://www.nctripping.com/roadside-waterfalls-in-north-carolina/

I think that having the matching blue is important in the composition and would obviously be lost if only in B&W. I think it is a great shot. Not sure what I would do to it beyond the usual curve adjustments for brightness/contrast/luminance, etc.

Many years ago we visited Black Canyon of the Gunnison. It is quite impressive and something we want to return to one day. I think the painted wall looks more painted with different light. When we saw it, the stripes were white against red and black rock and really stood out. Yes, striped might have been a better title.

While I agree with CHG_CANON, even with the pictures you posted, in LR you can move the slider for "dehaze" which basically takes the black darker and adds some contrast. This should help a lot, but the best would be to get it right in camera.

I didn't think it would be rated a 9 either....leave it to whom ever writes these reviews. Thanks for the reply.

Could be a 9 out of 35 or something.
