I was in the USAF ('73-'77). This was my favorite aircraft and I continually read up on it. There is a book on Area 51 where the plane was tested. Employees knew when the Russian satellites were overhead so they pulled the plane back into the hanger for secrecy. A few weeks later a Russian intelligence officer was having dinner with a CIA official and drew an outline of the plane on a napkin and asked what we were up to. It turned out that the desert sun was heating up the run way. Where the plane had been sitting, the runway was cooler.
As for the speed, it was said that during a test flight it flew 100 miles into Chinese airspace, took 100 miles to turn around and another 100 miles to fly out (300 miles total) before China picked it up on radar.

Thank you! They say you either love or hate the sound of bagpipes. Back in the sixties (I was probably about 10yr old) my Dad took me to the Indianapolis 500. Because of all the drivers from the UK, there was a Scottish drum and pipes corp marching on the infield. I got goose bumps listening to them and have ever since. I later found out I am of Scots-Irish heritage. Could there be something in my DNA?

Cause the little man inside the camera can only draw rectangles, not circles.

Merry Christmas, everybody!

Actually it does make a lot of sense. Lighter colors reflect heat and darker ones absorb heat. Back when I started photography, cameras were silver and black. Then camera manufacturers started making all-black cameras and they looked so "professional". I'm not sure the heat issue is critical in todays DSLRs but it is in film cameras. I shoot with a Pentax K30, which is unfortunately all-black.

Here in the Midwest I got into an argument with a guy complaining about how the wind turbines being built would change the seasons because of the depleted wind velocity!

In my opinion, photography can be used in a lot of different ways. Story telling is only one. Google Dorothea Lange to understand what Photographic Story Telling is about

Excuse me. I'm a newbie here, but it seems to me that the eye behind the lens takes the photo. The camera is only an instrument to achieve an end. Remember, Alfred Stieglitz used a simple box camera.
