For many/most? a camera can certainly highten a travel experience or most experiences in life.

Couple of thoughts on travel....

Have sent many people to many places over the past 19 years and have guided many groups of my own up to this point. So with that as my reference, you certainly can take too much gear with you on a trip....trying to accomplish too many things is something I talk to people about, have done it many times. For me it has happened when trying to take stills and video on the same trip. That has been simplified a bit with the nice video option many slrs's, etc. have today.

I do highly recommend that people do their reading BEFORE they travel. Have seen too many people in incredible places like Galapagos, for example, spending much of their time buried in a book, rather than absorbing their surroundings. Have also seen people when traveling buried in a book while they're visiting some incredible place. Read before and after....hire a local Guide, listen, ask questions, take pictures.

Thank you.

Why on earth do you go anywhere if it is to live the experience through a lens? Watch National Geography then.

Why does any one even ask what to take with them???

I am always puzzled by this frame of mind and questions...

Probably just me thought.

Hi....

Go to your drop box home page, for example:

https://www.dropbox.com/home

It should mirror the files you have in your desktop dropbox folder.

Go to the far right of the folder that you see in your browser, the paper-clip icon will be there. Put your cursor over that and it will say "share link". Left click and all the images will show up in another window. Then click on the "get link" icon and it should say...."link copied to clipboard". Here did it for a folder I took at Grand Haven, MI in May.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8scij4h9mmgvfa6/AAB_4iEtAlSKbEd44GDRB5oEa

There you have it, you can paste that link into an e-mail to share all images in that folder. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks. Mike Nolan/mnolan@rainforestandreef.org

If you don't need to do high numbers of slidesnegatives and want to keep your cost down....any of the Epson Perfection scanners work great.

I've recently gone from an XP computer to Windows 8.1 and my old slide/negative scanner will not work with W8. I've tried all I know to find a driver for it with no success. The manufacture of it no longer list it.
Costco has a Wolverine F2D on sale now for $79. Does anyone have experience with it? How about others?

Does anybody have a any suggestions for a website where I can post photos to share with friends and family? I inherited a lot of photos when my parents passed away a few years back, and would love to find a place to post them for the rest of the family to be able to share and enjoy. I also have several of my own (and hopefully a LOT more in the future now that I got my new Nikon d7100!). At this point, I'm not looking for a place to sell photos, and would like for the family to be able to print their own copies online if they wanted to. I'm not against having to pay to do this, but would like to keep costs to a minimum. I would prefer something that's not too difficult to set up and post to, but not necessarily something that just anyone would be able to get to. Maybe something with open viewing to some files, and more personal items could be password protected for "family and friends only" access?

Plenty of options out there....

See: http://www.cnet.com/how-to/comparing-the-best-ways-to-store-your-photos-online/

Also, for 7.00/mo you can have your own website. We have used websitesource.com for years now. They are excellent, support is excellent. Control panel is simple. If making your own simple site is daunting, it is as simple as basically making a word processing document using wordpress.com. I'm not a web designer, there are tons of simple videos on youtube related to wordpress.

Should you have any questions about websitesource.com, please feel free to e-mail me. Mike Nolan/mnolan@rainforestandreef.org

I have been trying to download brushes for my Photoshop Elements and am having trouble with it. Some of them are sent in rar files, and I can't find a good, safe freeware that will download to open up these files. Or is this software something I need to buy? Also, does anybody have any sites they use and like to download brushes?
