Thanks Steve I am not at my computer now so I do not know what the aperture was. I do know that the lens is pretty slow.I know I was trying to keep the lens opened up. Did not originally like this one but since someone else does I might go with it

I don't feel picked on. :) but I also don't think it's a real issue unless people reports failures as a result of doing it. Manufacturers of all sorts make lots of stipulations about how to use their products that are generally ignored in real life. They document it to cover themselves from lawsuits from people who do really stupid stuff.

Well said, maybe not related but my son who is a IT admin says life is too short to remove devices safely. now he has lost data on flash drives before. I just laugh at him when he does that. Electronics are finicky. I can remember his first computer repair as he is walking across the carpet carrying the motherboard in his socks in the winter. The end I laughed

Since you were using a zoom, next time try stepping back a couple of steps and frame with the lens. It is my experience that most photogs do not get tight enough to the subject. You are the opposite, a little too close. What would happen if you physically moved a little to the left or right, then pulled back a few steps? For this type of subject matter, I move around a wee bit taking lots of shots. . . Steve

I just worked on one quickly that I had not touched yet. I do tend to take multiple angles, distances, bracketing, all of the above, enough so that my wife will not go on hikes or photoshoots with me because it is boring for her although I am having fun. I think we all can relate. Here again I did not spend any time on this one but shoot away cause I am here to learn even if it hurts.
I think this one is too centered myself and too low

Did you crop in post processing or naturally in the camera? For me the frame is a little tight. Nice smooth out of focus background which might be better if you loosened up the frame. I like the color rendition. Nice image. . . .Steve

It was as shot, no post crop was done, there was nothing of interest to the left as far as background. I feel what you are saying about the tight comp. For what there was in the field it was better to the left side but yes I could have pulled back a little more. Thanks Steve

While it certainly doesn't hurt to turn it off, most pros and advanced amateurs I know rarely turn off the power to change lenses or batteries. I personally don't know of anyone who has ever actually had a problem as a result of operating this way.

I forget all the time as well, now mentioned and reading this post I will pay more attention as the danger is possible. As for the pros, they are probably well insured as I am not and shooting with older equipment and glad to have that. Thanks to the OP for this topic
Not picking on your post mwsilvers

Very nice! I have been wanting to go and do not live that far away from Richmond, a very historical place. All the upper end phone cameras have come a long way. I personally use a S2 but as long as you learn to use the settings just like you do on a DSLR you can make some great photos. And my android will stitch panoramics where my 20D well as you know takes alot more work.
But not to take away from your camera but it seems you must be a good photographer as well, it is not always the camera.
Your photos make me want to go right now and shoot.
