I don't know what to tell you speters. When I copy that address from your post and insert into google it opens fine. Seems to work for others so the problem must be on your end.

Dave,

Since I switched to BBF, I have never gone back and have no intention of doing so. But, having said that, there are some photographers who are satisfied with the focus button and trigger to be one and the same. The only way for you to determine which makes most sense to you is to give the BBF method a long enough time for it to be second nature to you. At that time only you will be able to answer your question and you can decide which method pleases you most.

Bob
(my prediction is that you won't go back to the one button method.)

In reading a recent article on DSLR sensors the author used the phrase that sensors are "extremely expensive to manufacture". That is a pretty subjective description with no finite parameters. I would assume that the cost of a sensor is related to the size (DX vs FX) and density (number) of the pixels per square millimeter. I also assume that, with the improvements in technology and mass production that the per unit cost diminishes over time. Perhaps the cost info is proprietary with the various manufacturers but does anyone have any finite information on the actual manufacturing cost of a sensor?

If you're taking the tripod, I'd leave the monopod at home. Some folks might recommend just the opposite but the overlap of use would make them redundant for me. For scenery (and macro if you take the tubes) the tripod is the most valuable. For the same weight of the monopod you could bring a sack full of tubes with you.

Many limbs (lives) springing from a common source...all heading in different directions. Many broken...one with a large cancerous growth; but all reaching to the sky which, at the present, is thinly veiled from them.

Bob, if you ask me I am going to say that you have two very capable cameras. Do you need 47 megapixels? I surely do not.
If there are features missing in your D750 that you need in your photography perhaps the new camera is what you need. The D810 is still a hell of a good camera. In regard to your D7100 I am sure the AF has been improved over previous models. I use the D7000 for BIF and some action shots and honestly, for my needs I have no complaints.
The D850 is an expensive camera priced at over $3000 so before you spend your hard earned dollars make sure that it is the camera you need in your photography.
Just my humble opinion.
Bob, if you ask me I am going to say that you have... (show quote)

camerapapi,
You are correct. I don't plan on getting the D850 anytime soon. I'm still learning thing with the two that I have every time I use them. I went to see the new offering simply out of curiosity.

"Horseback assessment"? Would that be synonymous with virtually useless?

I don't know where you reside Jim Bob, but in my part of the country a man's horseback evaluation (meaning one without a lot of in-depth research and long term evaluation; derived from a horseman riding over a piece of property and surveying it from that point of view) is generally acknowledged as the best to be had with the information available. It, like a man's word, is courteously accepted until/unless later information is revealed to discredit it.

Bill,

The dedicated BBF button is in the same place as the AE-L/AF-L button but it is already programmed for focusing. There are now two Fn buttons, one in the usual place on the lower right front and another on the lower left back panel. There is also a dedicated ISO button.

The Nikon rep was at Competitive Cameras in Dallas this morning. I was the first to handle it when he arrived and got to take a few quick shots. I really liked additional features that I worked with over my D750 and D7100 . It was very fast; I liked the dedicated BBF button and the joy stick to move the focus points. I think that the scrollable menu screens will also be an improvement with a little practice. My "horseback assessment" is that Nikon has a real winner here.

1) The D850 sounds like an outstanding camera and I'd love to have one.
2) To ascribe the title "Best" to anything without delineating the conditions under which it, and any others in the same category, will be used is a fool's errand. Just think how you would react if someone said they had the best car or best handgun or best education or best...

Find an aspiring young photographer (perhaps one who has outgrown their P&S) and gift it along with your knowledge of it. You will gain far more than it is worth on the market.
