Photographing a newborn baby's hair is extremely difficult. The color can literally change in a matter of hours. If that hair is truly red, it probably a deep red and will require careful and progressive adjustment of color balance to get it right. One of my granddaughters was born with bright red (Maureen O'Hara) hair. One week later it was almost black. At one month, it was a rich auburn with red highlights. At 5½, her hair color is light brown, but you can still see red highlights AT HIGHER ALTITUDES where the air is cleaner. It sounds crazy, but altitude (and/or clean air) does affect colors, a reason I bought my Gossen Sixticolor Color Temperature Meter. It really shows up on 4 X 5!

Geezzzz. I don't think the mother will like the red hair. In some of the photos, it almost looked brassy gold. Can you explain how I can adjust the color balance just on the hair? Thank you.

Are you viewing your photo on a color corrected monitor?

Also, was there more than one souce of illumination and were they the same color?

I have never color corrected my monitor. Are you talking about using a software program to calibrate my monitor or something done through computer? Do you mean illumination as in lighting?
I used my speedlite with a Gary Fong diffuser. Thank you for your input.

I sent this question earlier today but I didn't add a photo. I took a photo and the hair on the baby is not red, and I also see some gold/brown shadows. Can i fix these either with Photoshop Elements, Aperture, or Picaso? Can someone give me some instructions about how to do it? Thanks as always.

I took some photos indoors of a baby today. His hair has a reddish brown tint to it and also there are some spots in the folds of his skin that have a gold/brown shade/tint. I assume it was from my flash. Is there a way to remove the spots in the folds and tone down the red/gold tones in the hair using Photoshop? Thanks.

I was afraid to say it out loud but "I want my PC back!!" LOL. It has been a struggle trying to adapt to MAC. On the positive side, it runs smoothly..no viruses or hang ups such as freezing etc. I will adapt but am not sure what all the fuss is a out.

I am having such a time!! I am fairly new to MAC. I set it up for my photos to upload from my card reader straight to Aperture. Now I don't want them to go there. I want to load my raw photos to my hard drive and do either basic editing or send to Photoshop Elements. I can't figure it out. Can someone please help me? Thanks.

Does anyone have recommendations on good plugins for Photoshop Elements? Are they user friendly? Looking for the "dreamy"look. Thanks.

I am fairly new to MAC and originally set my MAC to open my photos in Aperture. I have decided to change over to Photoshop Elements but don't remember how to set MAC to open photos in Photoshop Elements organizer. Can someone help? Thanks a bunch.
