I agree, Bob. I own the Canon 70 - 300 f4- 5.6L IS with extender and have not been satisfied with its distance. It is a great lens for the distances it can reach. I usually use a tripod with it.

That is my main"walking around" lens for my T3i. I have used it for two years with no battery problem

I have taken two course at my local Community College. I probably could get as much knowledge online but I know that I do much better with the structure of an old fashioned classroom. I am much older than the other students most of whom are Photo Imaging majors. But, I'm holding my own and doing just as well as they are. I find the critiquing very useful.
