I've looked all over the lens and can't find any lettering what so ever to tell me what kind of lens it is. Since USM is new as you mention, probably STM. I don't take videos with my 60D so no problem there.

I have a 18-135 that came with my 60D when I purchased at BestBuy in Canada a little over three years ago. How do I tell if I have the STM or the USM? Can't find anything on the lens to show me. It does say made in Taiwan. Or is there somewhere on the lens that maybe I missed that will tell me which one it is. Thanks for your help.

In the eBook "Tack Sharp" by James Brandon, he states while taking a picture of a Forum in Rome, he used a 10 stop ND Filter, set the shutter speed to 2 minutes which made all the tourists in the frame disappear quite nicely. How is this possible that only the static portions of the forum are so sharp and all the moving tourists do not appear. I would have thought they would be a blur. I have a 10 stop but only used it twice to take pictures of waterfalls in Mesquite, Nevada.

Same here - tell us a little about the water splash kit. What does it consist of, where did you get it etc?

Apparently you can get 2016 Creative Kit free if you have all 5 of the PRO Apps. I do so I am waiting to hear back from them if this is correct. Hope it is - will save me $109 CDN.

If you are running a MAC, go to the App Store and get Noiseless from Macphun. Works very well and easy to use. A lot cheaper than most other software that does this same deed.

I have the Tokina 11-16 (the new version) and am very pleased with it. I take a lot of pictures inside, like grandkids birthday parties or other family functions and was having trouble getting everybody in the photo. So I bought this lens (Lucky it was on sale at that time so I saved a hundred bucks). Great for outside photos as well. This lens is always in my bag. You won;t be sorry if you purchase this lens.

Check out macphun.com. They have excellent software to remove objects and enhance the picture. Several of their apps are on the Apple "App Store". Price is very good and there are lots of tutorials on Youtube etc. A lot easier to use that Photoshop, a lot cheaper and does what I want. Pixelmatr, also on the App Store is another excellent program to do all these chores.

FotoMagico, though not cheap, does a good job.

If you have a MAC, "VOILA" is a reasonably priced program that works very well. I have not used it to capture screen video very often but it worked well when I needed it. Use it lots for screen capture stills.

Anybody have any experience or comments on this lens. I take a lot of pictures of grandkids inside and have a problem backing off enough to capture the whole scene. The local Photography shop suggested this one or the Canon 10-22. The Tokina is faster and a hundred bucks cheaper. On sale right now at $649 CDN. Also a fixed focal length but very little zoom. I have a 50mm 1.8 which takes great pictures but not wide enough. Other forums and blogs/evaluations don't have many negative comments. Thanks for your time.

the sync speed is just the "maximum speed you can set for your shutter speed and get acceptable results" that's all.

You can set any shutter speed below that you like.

I'd recommend going to this site and going through the "Lighting 101" course.

It will be faster and easier than asking 1,000,000 questions here and getting 1,000,000 different and conflicting answers.

Went to this site - it is what I have been looking for. If it is all that the blogger says it is, I will be spending a lot of time there learning how to use my flash. Have a 430EX II Speedlite on a Canon 60D. Thanks for the tip.
