Thank you cannoneer35. It was a fun outing except for the wind.

I went to an eagle viewing area this morning but it was terribly windy and at a time of day not meant for great sky shot. I had some time to kill there as I was waiting for our dog to get done at the groomer. I will have to go back some time earlier in the morning and when it's not as windy. These were shot with a D90 and Sigma 150-500 hand held in the wind.

That is one fine looking vehicle Marilyn. Congratulations on your new vehicle and Kudos to your son and daughter in law for being generous with the love you taught him to have. You are blessed with more than one could ask for, God gave you a wonderful son, daughter in law, a beautiful gift and talent of photography and a beautiful surroundings to take your great pictures plus the animals (deer and cats) to use as your models. Have a very blessed week Marilyn.

Good morning Erv and good shot of a pretty moon. I should have taken the camera out and took some shots before feeding the animals this morning. The donkey's were already he hawing as they saw me walking the dog so I took the dog in and went about my chores instead. Maybe tomorrow morning I will get the camera out before taking the dog out.

Good one Ediesaul, I know that the weather today and into next week will at least make it feel like the flowers should be coming soon.

Sunday my wife, her brother and sister in-law and their daughter and her 2 children went to Saint Johns University near St. Cloud MN to see some of the outdoor art that is to be taken down possibly within the year.
We also went to see the Stella Maris Chapel which is on the other side of the lake. Since we are still in winter mode here in Minnesota we took the walk across the lake instead of the about 2 mile hike around the lake. The young kids enjoyed the sliding on the ice more than the art but that is what kids do.
I have included a picture of the (Lean On Me) plaque for more of the story line rather than typing it all here. I hope you get a chance to see both of these someday and we plan on returning to the chapel for the long walk this spring or summer for a warmer more colorful walk.

I didn't mean that the cow was dangerous, just being outside trying to compose a picture of cow and calf in the cold and wind. That can make numb fingers, even with gloves.

The cows are gentle, knowing from personal experience. Food is utmost in their thoughts, as you know.

Best of luck with your farm. Lots of work, but it is the kind that gives you satisfaction at the end of the day and the outdoor activity keeps you healthy, except on those super cold or hot days :)

Thank you Vicksart, so far these are the only 2 cows we have but do plan on more in the future. We also have a standard and a mini donkey which they are a hoot to work with. I don't know which is more work, a job or retiring to a hobby farm with critters. They are fun but a lot of work, more so the cows as they are a lot messier to clean up after than the donkey's.

I don't know much about calves, but horses hide behind their mothers or the mother situates herself between the photographer and her foal. So I would have to say babies are tough and this is a neat perspective. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you MichaelBoggia, they are pretty tame as the cow was one my nephew had on his dairy farm. The only time she is fiesty is when it is time to eat, then she is real pushy. She will nudge me out the door when I am carrying the feed bucket to move me along quicker.

Nice capture of a couple of cheeky Holsteins. Shooting under those conditions was brave to say the least.

Thank you ediesaul, I didn't mention the temps and wind chill we had yesterday when the picture was taken. But it was so cold I was wearing thick gloves and had trouble adjusting the settings with them on. Thank you for looking and your kind comment.

Great shot!!! Ordinarily, I would have asked about the mother's eyes, but I think the composition is excellent because it allows us to concentrate on the calf's eyes and how wary it looks. Love the contrast in colors in the entire photo. For a shot that had to be taken on the spur of the moment, well done!!!

Thank you Linda, this was actually taken with the camera held down by my knees as I only had a small area between them and the barn to shoot. As I mentioned the calf is not sure about the camera yet and hides behind mom when I show up with it. Thanks for looking.

Nice set Linda, the foggy mountain rocky top is my fav. I also like the looks of the wheeled irrigation system, this is different to what I have seen here in MN.
