Very nice captures. Were aerials taken from the chopper? "Creek Street"-where the sailors and salmon went to spawn.

None of the images were from a helicopter....the helicopter windows had terrible reflections so they were not as good. All others were taken from land or ship.

Wonderful shot. We are headed back to Alaska in June. What a giant playground it is.

It is a marvel of nature for sure. Next up is Hawaii for us. Using a new Sony mirrorless setup after selling our Nikon.

A photo of your set up would help. But, since it's a backpack, strap the tripod to the shoulder strap where it attached to the pack, and somewhere at the bottom with Velcro. The pocket you're using is not strong enough to support the tripod for long.

Thanks for your suggestion.

A lot go good advices here. I cary my tripod with its feet in the mesh pocket of the backpack and so far no holes appeared but the mesh stretched in the past years.

Similar to using a lens pouch - if you don't have one you can buy a ditty bag - search amazon for it and there are hundreds if not thousands out there of different materials and sizes. Also outdoor stores have them but probably more expensive.

Thanks for your suggestion.

I'd be concerned about the weight of the vertical tripod pushing down on a small area.

I am too Jerry so I've just purchased a carbon fiber travel tripod which is very light. Still I am concerned about wearing out the mesh over time. Thankfully the bottom of this pocket is solid 1" fabric from the bottom up. I have a 6" bag with a drawstring which I think will work to prevent the locking rings of the tripod legs snagging the inside surface of the mesh.

You might consider the water bottle carriers made from webbing and elasticized cord. Check Amazon.

Have a local tailor sew straps to the bottom of the backpack. You can use Velcro or buckles.

Thanks Jerry
