Nice image - interested to know why Aperture of f5.6 was chosen?

I use DxO Optics Pro as the first part of my workflow, for noise removal, chromatic aberration removal, lens corrections and perspective adjustments. It is easy to use and does a tremendous job. The Prime Noise Removal is awesome, as is the Clearview function which can remove haze etc from landscapes.

I do both, I use DxO Optics Pro to do lens corrections, remove noise, remove chromatic aberration and do perspective adjustments on all the RAW exposures (DxO let's you select all of them and make the identical changes on all of them simultaneously) and create TIFFs.
Then process the TIFFs in Photomatix, creating another TIFF.
Edit this TIFF in Photoshop.

Nice shots, very nice work. I particularly like the photo of the swallow.

Thanks Jim, yes I like that one too, I was lucky to get one sitting still for a change.

Here are a few of mine. I can say I am very impressed with the image quality of this lens, but it is extremely heavy, you'll build muscle using it.

Free, the proably flicker. If you want to pay a marginal amount for more security, then smugmug. Click on my user name and you'll filnd my smugmug site there. Use it for a 20% off (for both of us) your first years subscription. I've been with them since 2007.

Why do you say "for more security", what does Smugmug offer that makes it a more secure option than Flickr?

I have only had mine a couple of days and been out with it once. Initial impressions are, image quality is fantastic, image stabilisation seems good, love the Lock switch that will lock it at any zoom length. Only downside is it is very heavy, I think the 120-400 will be kept in the kit bag and will go on the longer walks. THe 150-600 is definitely one that needs a monopod or tripod IMHO. But happy so far. Heres a couple of early samples.

How do you get the exposure right on a scene that has 23 stops of brightness?

My advice would be to decide on either Canon or Nikon. Lenses tend to be the largest expense over time and having two incompatible cameras will not be very cost effective.

Excellent - HDR as it should be used in my opinion. (which doesn't count for anything)

Hey, you're in Australia so your opinion means a lot to me :-)

Nice bit of Urbex Andrew. I wish I had the buildings around here to do similar shots.
If you enjoy HDR urbex check out a pal of mine on flickr.
His user name is Solapi. An absolute master of HDR and the uncrowned king of urbex. He is a proper urbex guy him and his fellow fans break into old houses clinics hospital power stations etc on photographic expeditions.
He is Spanish so there is no shortage of old castes etc for him and his friend to target. I think you will enjoy his work

Nice bit of Urbex Andrew. I wish I had the buildin... (show quote)

Yes, some wonderful stuff there, both subject matter and processing. I wouldn't mind an assistant like his too :-)

I love this one.

Very nicely worked image. A high percentage of HDRers would have had halos and muddy parts in a tree filled sky like that, but not our Billy!
