Hi Carl, personally i use bracketing then merge the images in Photomatix, my camera has inbuilt HDR but only in jpg so prefer to use the bracketing method so i can merge in RAW thus giving more detail. a tripod is a MUST for good HDR images though. Hope this helps
one of my recent HDR shots..
I would love to see them cropped in a bit as they look great :)
great photo, i hope it was with a long lens lol
Taken with my Sony Nex C-3
Shutter speed set at 1/500
ISO 400
f9
focal length of 55mm
My personal critique is that i would have liked more space in front of the falcon (cropped out the handler) and a bit more bokeh, I will be re-visiting the centre though and changing my settings on my camera accordingly.. i still love this shot though :)
thank you Ggia, will be posting some soon :)
Thanks Teresa, just finding my feet on the forum at the moment, I am quite envious of you being in Wales, so much lovely scenery to photograph! I'm in Hull though i do like to get out and about as much as i can with the Camera.
I back up onto DVD's keeping everything, i still dont trust electronic drives enough to store everything on them and while i appreciate that optical storage does after time degenerate, i still have more faith in them than hard drives
"How many shots do you miss while you are changing your film?.. "
"So you have to scan to put your photographs on line?... how quaint!"
"It cost me $X for my 8 gig memory card.. just tell me again how much all those rolls of film + developing cost you?"
" I KNOW I nailed that shot!... how 'bout you?"
That said i still like to go back to my roots and shoot the odd roll of film now and again :)
Depends on what i am after in my photograph, There is nothing wrong in using auto settings on some occasions, i like it for portraits, However for capturing night time reflections (one of my favourite subjects) it simply would not work, so manual it is! Long exposures, good bokeh, a dark foreground with a bright sky also need manual settings... horses for courses.
I would consider a visit to Cambridge while you are in the area too, beautiful buildings there, I'm from the North so can't really comment on too much of where you will be but if you get the chance to roam a little further afield i would suggest a trip to York. Its one of my favourite places in the world (and only a hours drive from me)
Enjoy your visit to England :)
Hi, Im Dez and i'm an alc... oh wait, wrong room.. :P
Late 50's amateur photographer, been taking photo's for many years but only recently started taking it more seriously, Use a Sony NEX C-3 with a Tamron 18 - 200mm lens mostly, most of my work is Landscape though i do enjoy portrait work with models both on location and ocassionally in a studio. I love HDR when done well (not to everyones taste i appreciate). Here to learn, admire other peoples work and hopefully pass on some of my own hints and tips
