Good decision. I recently purchased a D4 with 318K shutter counts. Rated for 40K. Seller was a camera store person. He assured me that the ratings are very conservative and even if it needed shutter repair it was not expensive. I am 71 and figure we (camera and I) are at about the same percentage of useful life left. I have a D500 and Df so this will not be my primary camera. It is in very good physical condition and price was reasonable. I wanted to see what handling a professional camera body was like and to have another FX body. I do not worry about haveing so many cameras at my age because my 13 year old Grandson is a very good photographer and he will one day use all of this. Wishing you good health and great photos.

Well so far apart from a little mist /defused around the very edges of the view finder, I cannot seem to fault I'd my cf card has finally arrived and I shall be testing in earnest,a sample of the results I shall post.
I,m looking to see the diffence in fx over dx which may mainly turn out to be the extra captured area !?

In recent months I had the realisation that three of my school mates had passed away, suddenly life just became too short for I wish I had, on my death bed !
So having previously said I,m sticking with my DX NIKON D7100 and I am,not parting with it !
I have also gone out and dipped my toe finally into the FX pond !

Bought a NIKON D700"old yes, 109'000 clicks yes, built like a tank and heavy, but for the Β£260 it cost me to get it in my hands, don't think I did too badly ?

Just awaiting my ordered cf card to arrive and I shall be testing, testing, meanwhile every you tube d700 video is being watched in preparation.

Photographs to follow and my views on this ere FX finally.

No worries. I have an 80-200 also and was considering buying a Kenko TC. I knew you had a Kenko (from a previous post) and thought maybe you had used it for this picture. I'm curious to know how it affects image quality on the 80-200.

I will when I have time attach the Kenko and take again from same point

I thought you had the Nikon 80-200 f/2.8? Was this taken with the Kenko teleconverter?

My bad it Is 80-200 f2.8 and no converter it was shot at 200 mm equal approximately 450 mm but cropped to give view you see, quite a bit cropped too, from memory what you see about a third of original frame view.

Thank, you all, itsmobviously NOT just me then that's not doing very well,I feel a bit better knowing that,I didn't want a perfectnas new finish just back to black rather than the steel looking colour under a few very deep scratches ,I will live with it the best I can get it,not so obvious and I drought anyonemwill, inspect, close up,plus I need not worry if there s a bit of rain on bare metal.

You got me curious. I’m a canon shooter and the finish on their lenses is a black wrinkle. Amazon has various black wrinkle spray paints. As to exact shade - who knows. The best I could suggest is spraying some in cup and use a artist brush to touch up the scratches.

Thanks To all for your input, especially Dave for this, might give it a go.Graham

Tried matte black which don't match when dry, gloss is too shiny when dry, just cannot get the Finnish as the rest of the unscratched parts of the barrel.
Any ideas ?
