I have the SX50. In manual or aperture priority mode you have some control over your aperture. There is not a huge range of F stops due to the nature of a superzoom lens. It maxes out at F8. At F8 you should have a pretty good depth of field. Most folks that try closeups want less depth of field or bokeh, giving a blurred background effect. That's harder to do with this type of camera as well. The lowest F stop is around F4. They do what they do very well, but one size does not fit all. Hope this helps.

Thanks, this is very helpful. He wants to take close ups and then take another photo showing them in their enviroment, but doesn't want to carry his 7D around the Forest for the day.

Not sure how good the DOF is for a bridge camera but it does a good job of close ups. Took a shot of this small cactus earlier this week probably 2 inches away.

Thank you, picture is beautiful and clear.

Hi, I have done a search and couldn't quite find what I was looking for. My partner is thinking of buying the sx60, one of the things he wants to do is take close up photos of mushrooms, which are often in low light situations, but he also wants to have a good depth of field behind them. Is this possible with this camera? Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your help, I couldn't find CC2014 on the computer, don't know why. Have now re dowloaded them from the Topaz site, bruswen reminded me that they keep records of what you have and you are able to download them again.

I just copied files for them across from the CC2014 plug-in folder to the CC2015 plug-in folder.
That was the advice from the Topaz web site. I do not have On1

They appear to work ok.

Thank you, I will look it up on their site.

The copy and paste worked to move the ones you list. On one has a good description of how, with screen shots. I had to reinstall NIK and Macphun plugins from scratch. If one method doesn't work, try the other.

Thank you so much for your help, by opening Jpeg by going to File>Open As I now have ALL the tools. Think what I was doing wrong was opening image in Photoshop then using Camera Raw Filter to open it in ACR. Thank you Billyspad for your help and patience.

Your screen shot was fine except too small to see Icons on tool bar and also cannot see what version of ACR it is .
Snip whole screen and send a bigger clearer file

To open a Jpeg in Camera Raw - In Photoshop go File > Open As and select Camera Raw in the drop down box. Then select jpeg you wish to open and it will open in Camera Raw with all the Camera Raw adjustments available.
You are however working on a file thats already compressed to jpeg format so will not have all the information that a raw file has.

Hi< I just found this. Now wondering if there is any way that I can open a Jpeg straight into ACR?

There is a different tool bar if you use ACR as a plug-in on the way into Photoshop as opposed to using ACR as a Filter in PS, itself. There are less functions in the Filter, like no Crop, because PS, itself, allows for cropping.

Hi, have been into the Update Manager and it says I'm up to date, I tried pressing C in ACR but that didn't work. Thank you for trying to help.

This is not the download for the ACR 8.7.1 update. It is the download for "DNG Converter_8_7_1.exe". It is not a plug-in and it is not going to show up in PS CC in the Raw Converter. It is a free standalone utility.

You don't need to go to the Adobe site to download the latest ACR update. It is all done through the CC Update Manager. You can check if there is an update by going to Help>Updates.

You should have the Crop tool in the Tools Bar in the Raw Converter. Press the C key to activate it. This is its shortcut.

You uploaded a document file NOT an image file Try again.
Get your sceen shot and save it as a Jpeg if you can and send that.

If you use Windows 7 Go Start > Accessories > Snip Tool. Windows 8 I have never used so check if its the same.
Thats the easy way. Save snip as Jpeg
