Been to the Rookery just off Jacarranda and US 41 in Venice. Lots of birds there with their babies and eating fish.

Thank you, I have been to the Rookery & it is a neat place, there is a Great-horned Owl family in residence right now. Just got lucky to find out about them.

Yes, I was there this morning. Awesome!!!

Yes, I used a 100 m macro too. That helped.

P.S. Also, I didn't use a flash to do these coin shots.

I did coins for a store within their plastic cases. Had no problem with them. They came out great. I just searched around for the best lighting. I set the case upright within the best lighting and shot straight on. Really came out great.

Right, I agree with you. I was talking about the Egrets in Florida here.
Since I've moved down here from N.H., I've enjoyed bird watching and photographing them. They are so tame here.

Birding is one of our favorite pass times. We are also in a great location for it on the Pacific Coast flyway. We have had the chance to visit Costa Rica and South Africa to photograph the wild life. In both case, we had great experiences.

They are several different Egrets here. The larger Great White, the Cattle Egrets with yellow gold highlights and the snowy egrets.

They are keeping a close study of these Jays. They mate for life and the Scrub Jay family remains close. There are 27 Scrub Jays left in that area and each year the count goes down. They are doing everything they can to keep the Scrub Jay from becoming extinct.
Here is another shot of the Wood Storks photographed on a sunset evening at Myakka State Park. Colors were not adjusted.

This type of jay is found only in Florida and is a threatened species.
Spent the day at Oscar Sherer Park photographing a few of these lovely creatures that are very tame and curious.
