I was a fire dep't photographer for 20 yrs. Not easy to get right exposure - flames are so elusive being not solid.

Difficult subject, photographing such a tragic loss. Though the photos often serve as a reminder to many to be fire safe.

Your pictures are great, but the texture added is too regular, perfectly replicating having shot thru a window screen. A random or less geometric texture I think would serve better, perhaps rotate the 'mesh' texture to diagonal? I hate to be negative on such a great photo, but I feel it is a constructive comment. Those two photos are definitely worthy of being mounted and hung with pride. [IMHO, FWIW]

Now this is what a forum oughta be!! It is often so difficult for many to grasp what a class curriculum sets forth, but to step in here and have it explained, demonstrated and accomplished is great. I've stepped away from so many forums due to arrogance, belligerence and flaming.

Hello, all. I'm a fire engineer in his fifties whose photo experience goes back to 1973. I built and enjoyed a full wet darkroom in 1982. (film speed = ASA setting)
Now I've got a Canon 30D and two 40D's, 430EX2 flash, a damn good heavy, sturdy and a lightweight Manfrotto tripod with matching ball-heads and a QR plate affixed to each camera. ACDSee Photo Pro 3 and PS Elements 9.
My day-to-day photography is construction, recording each step, I carry the camera every day; off-hours - all too few, I'll chase a sunset or flowers & landscape shots. Just recently adding people (portraits) to my portfolio.
I am self-taught, and have studied and practiced every aspect of photography. After all these years I am still learning. If I ever thought I knew everything about photography, I'd proclaim myself a damn fool. I apply this doctrine to work also.
Enough rambling, let's go shoot something : )
