My wife and I took a ride down to Cape May today. Cape May is the southernmost point in New Jersey. It is a peninsula surrounded by the Atlantic on the east and the Delaware Bay on the west. My wife went shopping for yarn which gave me the opportunity to do some street photography.

Then we drove to the end of the land in New Jersey. There is a small beach here which is quite interesting. There is an old watch tower that was used in WWII to watch for submarines. There is also a wreck of a ship which is a reminder of an ill-fated project during the war to make liberty ships out of concrete. As you can see from the photo, the project was less than successful. They all broke up and sank. Under compression concrete is very strong. When you bend it or pull on it, however, it proved to be less than up to the task of making a good hull for a ship.
