The adapter is discounted if you buy it with the camera.

While you can mount any F-mount lenses, you cannot auto focus lenses that do not have a self contained focus motor. AF and AF-D lenses do not auto focus.

You are the owner of a magnificent A7RIII with the 100-400 GM, Isn't it better to go out and photograph as much as possible than to count actuations? Enjoy your equipment to the limit and do not worry whether the es counts the same as the ms.

Does the electronic shutter rack up shutter counts same as the mechanical. Since there are no moving parts it would seem that they should not be counted the same.

Any body know for sure?

A modest proposal: before buying a camera and lens, read weight info provided by the manufacturer, go to Sports Authority, buy a couple of 7 pounds dumbbells and everyday carry the weights for a couple of hours until you feel fit to carry your photo gear. If you love photography do something about being fit to do it. No age restriction is necessary. Otherwise, buy a point and shoot or use your phone.

This forum greatly helped me in choosing to get a really decent camera a few months ago. I purchased a D750.

It is an amazing camera! I love it to pieces!

But!

But it is a heavy camera plus an item of great value. So frequently when Jeannie and I go out in the car, 99% of the time to our local town of Grants Pass here in Southern Oregon, I leave the camera at home.

Which means that 99% of the time when I see something worth recording as a photograph I don’t have the camera with me!

Duh!

Surely I can’t be the only one caught in this trap?

How do others approach their photographic ambitions?

how do I see the shutter count on my Canon 7D camera?

Here is the answer to my email to DIRE shuttercount.:
Hi,

We have stopped selling the Windows version due to lack of demand, so we are not planning to update it. Only the Mac and iPhone/iPad versions are available.

Best regards,
Agnes

Your old version may well still work on Windows 10, I have found that with much older software, however being able to find the installation kit for Windows for download may not be quite so simple. I could not find any mention of Windows on the DireStudios site - although I may have missed it - but there may be old versions kicking around the web somewhere.

Help Us Help You — READ THIS, IT IS IMPORTANT

We deal with a multitude of software and hardware configurations. To help in diagnosing your problem please include as much information about your system as possible when you contact support. We'll ask them anyway, so including it will save time for both of us.

When the app has a built-in problem reporting facility, we expect you to use it. The Mark II Artist's Viewfinder, ALPA eFinder II, Kuuvik Capture and Mac and iOS versions of ShutterCount has it.
•On a Mac click Report a Problem in the Help menu. Complete and send the email.
•On an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch tap the menu icon on the toolbar (three horizontal stripes) and tap Report a Problem. Complete and send the email.

With other apps and on Windows please provide the following information:
•Name of the app you experience a problem with.
•Your order ID (in case the app was not purchased in the App Store and Mac App Store).
•Model of the iOS device / Mac / PC you are using.
•Version number of the operating system you use.
•Version number of the app you experience a problem with.
•Model of the connected device (eg. camera) - if applicable.
•Firmware version number of the connected device (eg. camera) - if applicable.

I can not answer this question with 100% accuracy; however, back in 2016 there were two choices when I purchased the licence: PC or Apple. I use a PC with Win 10, I tried it on my daughters 7D about an hour ago, and it worked perfectly. I wonder if there is an email link that may be able to provide the answer.

I pulled this info from the help menu of the program, I hope it may answer the question about Windows support.

On 7/14/2016 I purchased the license from DIREstudio, to use shuttercount, PC version (I do not have Apple); the price for it was $2. It works well on 7D, 7Dii, 70D, 5Diii, 6D, it is worth it in mho, you have the link posted by the first responder. Also, Magic Lantern will read the shutter count on some Canon models and it is free.

I am sure if affordability is not a problem either a new or refurbished 5D mark iv would keep you photographing for many years to come.

It seems all Canon speculation is coming to a head. This article explains in a certain way why the new Canon cameras lag behind the competition. You may want to read the link here: https://petapixel.com/2018/01/09/canon-lagging-innovation/

Luminar 2018 by Skylum. You may find this article interesting. The price appears to be acceptable. Unfortunately, I do not know a thing about this product to write any comment.

Let's see if this helps anyone. Since I teach physics, my students are not using microscopes. But all of my biology and chemistry colleagues use microscopes in their labs. The practice is for students to have both eyes open. Why? I'm told that with practice, they will teach their brain to pay better attention to the eye they are using.

Thank you Elliott, I've spent a lot of my working life looking through a monocular microscope until the stereo was purchased. I was wondering if the same technique applies to cameras. In my case, it is impossible to look with only one eye. In all honesty, I feel overwhelmed looking at all the info through the viewfinder. Thank you for your reply.
