Ragarm,
As an amateur, let me list what I see the photo has going for it.
1) It more or less follows the rule of thirds. The waterfall is NOT in the center and the red tree in the lower left balances it.
2) Use of contrasting colors. The reds contrast with the green theme. The white and blue of the water also helps.
3) The soft silky look of the waterfall shows the picture was taken at a slow shutter speed. Since the foliage is not blown out, the picture was taken with an overcast sky or during the morning or evening with low sunlight. Lack of harsh shadow shows this. Also a neutral density filter may have been used.
4) Having a picture of the waterfall movement gives the feeling that something is happening and the picture has a story vs a static subject. Also, makes use of leading lines with the fall.
5) The colors do not seem to have been oversaturated (it does not look gaudy).
6) Considering all the above, it shows the picture was taken with some forethought to Make a picture and not just to Take a snapshot.
