Great shot. In New Smyrna Beach we saw the the two boosters returning to their sea based platforms right off the coast. You captured the spectacular scene very well. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks LJ, it was definitely spectacular, especially after the rocket reached the upper atmosphere and the sun on the rocket trail, the plume, the boosters, made for a beautiful sight, one of the best I've seen. Saw a Falcon Heavy in late 2019 and watched the booster came all the way back and actually land at the Cape, I have some shots of those, that was superb....ain't FL great, Cheers

Here are some pics of the SpaceX launch on April 23 from my front yard.
Launch, booster separation and booster return - all completed before 6 am.
Always a thrill - never gets old.

Great shot Dr Joe especially all the way from Tampa, ain't Florida great. One of the best launches I've seen, especially the return of the boosters and the sunlit atmosphere, absolutely beautiful....Cheers

At 0550 just before sunrise this morning, a SpaceX Falcon 9 with the Dragon crewed capsule lifted off from Cape Canaveral heading to the ISS....an absolutely flawless and beautiful launch. This was taken about 45 miles away in Wabasso, FL along the Indian River Lagoon about 20 miles south of Melbourne (180 second exposure). Another glorious morning to be had...Cheers, download is recommended.

from central Illinois. Debating on taking either I-70 (will take me a bit too far north) or I-64 (a bit difficult to follow on my old map). Does anyone have any suggestions for "must-sees" along either route. I'm debating going to Gettysburg. Is West Virginia pretty enough that I'll want to stop and take lots of pictures?

If you're into geologic features, I have to second another poster and recommend Luray Caverns, not far off I-81, its a interesting and beautiful place and a good place to cool off in the hot summer...

We lived in the Shenandoah Valley for years (Lexington) and I-64 is a much more scenic and enjoyable route, the route through KY is so beautiful and the same with WV. Winding roads? Its Interstate and they're not all that bad. I-70 will get to Gettysburg faster but I-64 and I-81 through the Shenandoah is more scenic plus you're just a few miles off the Blue Ridge Pkwy and Skyline Drive NP that parallels I-81. Cheers, have a safe and enjoyable trip...

ps, If you travel I-64, you might stop by White Sulfur Springs and drive through The Greenbrier, an old (1778) and beautiful resort.

But where is it?

Don’t know Larry, hasn’t interested me that much...I’m still trying to get a flat sensor to work for me.

I've heard rumors that Canon may have filed for a new curved sensor patent. Has anybody heard of this or familiar with this potential sensor technology?

Sony has been producing a curved sensor since 2014 and I'm sure its within all the major camera companies technology to do so...here's an interesting read;

Tanks a lot for that information. Very useful in NYC. But if you had a camera you would have a very stable platform.

NYC? Better hope your tank shoots, the heck with communication or propulsion...

The day will likely arrive companies will not have DSLR's in their lineup.
If that situation was right now at this moment in time, I'd like to see Nikon keep one DSLR in their lineup. The ideal DSLR at the current time would be the D850.

This would be like keeping the F6 when things went digital. However, I feel a D850 in a mirrorless world would make more sales then the F6 did in a digital world.

Keeping the D850 may be profitable and would keep many of us not wanting to change to mirrorless very happy.
The day will likely arrive companies will not have... (show quote)

Photographers, be they professional or amateur/hobbyist, have their own parameters to pick which is the camera they eventually want to buy or even stay with. The fact that Leica still makes expensive top quality film cameras and numerous other companies still make affordable film cameras indicates film, although less common today, is still available and shot by a lot of photographers, hobbyists and pros.

To me, cameras are only a tool and all even though they all have different specs, in the end they are still just a tool for a photographers use. They can't really think (even with AI), they only produce what the photographers sees or what he would like to see in his creative mind and that in itself has help lead to post processing technology. Each photographer will select the tool they want by they're own preferences and requirements.

Technology won't sit idle, will continue to advance and mirrorless is the current technological direction for many reasons. I have a '69 Mach I and can still drive it and even though its far more expensive to maintain, I'd never think of getting rid if it (I know apples & oranges) but transportation is still transportation. IMHO, one top shelf camera is not that much better than the others....iow, the Ford, Chevy, Dodge argument exists to this day. I've had many cameras to play with, Kodak bellows folding cameras, Argus rangefinders, Pentax SLR's various models, Yashica, Minolta, Canon and others. Mirrorless is now my preference for many personal reasons however I still have my Mach I which 'I think' is far better than the Camaro...

PS, Loved the video

If the new-ish models basically hotrod existing models why shouldn’t they milk them for all they’re worth until the SLR market ultimately dries up ? It seems like just good business sense.

I wouldn’t expect real progress such as IBIS or global shutters in SLRs before the bell tolls. IOW no new series, just more upgrades. Don’t hold your breath for a Df Mark II Titanium SE.

Totally agree, its business
