Well, it did stick its tongue out at you. Was that a message? Nice work!

Thank you Jaymatt, I think sticking its tongue out is normal snake behavior.

nice captures that I'll will never take. Absolutely abhor snakes. On another note ,are those African Springboks in the field.

Thanks for taking a look Tusketwedge. Those four legged animals are pronghorns.
I have posted some closeups's in earlier posts. I identified them as antelope in error.

you were certainly brave to get so close to him...love your shots.

Thank you merrytexan. Since the snake was not coiled and ready to strike I felt
5' was closed enough.

Wow .. That's close enough .. That's a healthy rattler

Thank you Dr.Nikon. I was concerned for this beauty's safety, was glad when it
retreated to the field. It was just laying in the road when I approached.

Nice Diamond Back. Good size. Fun to see. Actually they don't want to see you any more than many folks don't want to see them. Proper behavior, leave them alone and they will leave you alone.

Thank you Nalu, this was the second rattlesnake I've seen in the 10 years I've lived in this area.

Where was your zoom lens when you needed it? 5 Feet? Nice shots.

Thank you Orca, these were taken with a 24-120f/4 on a D800E. I was concerned about getting as
much DOF as I could so I used the wide angle zoom. I did have a 300mm mounted on a crop sensor
camera, only had a minute before this snake slithered off.

This beauty was sunning itself on a gravel road near my house.
It never got defensive with me, close as I got was about 5 feet
before it slithered off into the field next to the road.

All gorgeous, assume taken with CPL.

Duane

Thank you Duane. No CPL on these shots, just clear blue Colorado sky. I like
the blue sky from the shots directly overhead.
