You just have to take a look at what JIP really is. JIP has no R&D, no internal development, no engineers, nothing like that. They are accountants, with a workforce of about 30 souls. In the last 5 years, JIP has sold off assets of over 14 companies. Not one has been restructured or has continued development. It doesn’t have the capital. JIP exists solely to manage brands for the benefit of shared agreements with shareholders. They are a vulture fund of privately owned equity partners designed to get around Japanese pension, retention, and servicing laws. For Olympus, this sale is purely a divestment at loss. The only realistic hope is that Panasonic and the other MFT consortium members will still be fully committed to M43. I, for one, will keep using my EM5 and maybe even upgrade to the Mark III. 20mp for this sized sensor is totally enough for what I, as an enthusiast, do.
