Not good shots...wrong side for light...but took them for ID purposes. Since I'm not an expert on Hawks...thought maybe someone could ID this one for me :-D

I would go with Broad -winged hawk !

Seems like this is a different type of heron.

My guess is that it is a little blue heron in transition between immature and adult.

I purchased one because I was hesitating on spending $1100 for a telephoto lens. Right after I got it, I took it to the park in order to try it out. When I processed my selected images I was shocked on how great they turned out and I won a couple of prizes from my photo club with them. With a little tweaking I can get good 16x20's out of them. And the zoom - WOW!

Hi shelty - have you posted any of your shots on this site ? and if so under what description ?

Nice shot. I really like the color rendition that the P900 gives you.

Yes so do I - thanks for getting back to me - this is a great site - glad I joined.

I am more than happy with my P900. The sensitivity and sharpness of the lens is very good for such a long zoom. It is a great all-purpose camera and will get you good photos at the long end of the lens that you would not normally get. Your kite photos are very good and you should be happy with your camera. My other camera is a Canon 70D with a variety of lenses but I find that I am walking around with the Nikon P900 most of the time.

I have just posted a recent shot from my P900 taken in very low light - see "He would not turn around" on Photo Gallery - I would appreciate your comments !

Camera shy, otherwise good picture.

Thanks ebbote and angler even though he would not turn around I am quite pleased with this - it was low light we had very heavy and dark clouds full cover so not bad considering.
