Now that I'm able to see ads on UHH, I have more entertainment. Some of these products look - well, weird. I wonder how well some of these strange things work. I'm not going to buy them and find out, but there are certainly a lot of unusual items available these days.

This cat bed map is so true, and it would also apply to dogs. On the left is the cat bed that is never used. I have a dog bed in this room and a similar one in the living room. Dexter never uses the one in the living room, but he always uses this one.

Yes, she was a bit dejected, she was totally new to modeling and wanted to try it out even if she was no good at it. So I sat her down and explained my background in doing figure work and showed her a book*, then a pile of B&W and Color 11X14 prints. She was impressed and some of the images I explained who the woman was and how this was their first shoot and then an image of them after several sessions. I finished with, all women have 'IT', they play Petty, Prety Princess and do dress up, as part of the ritual of becoming a woman. So you all ready 'know' how to be in front of a camera, you just want to try it and then if you like it you then go out and have fun doing it. Some women love it so much that it becomes like a drug, they have to have it. But it should be a fun addition, much like boys love their tools and making things in their garage.

So we did that first shoot that Tuesday. As she was leaving, a happy girl, she told me that she was off the next day and needed to wash her car. We had just gone out to the front and there was her Mini Copper. I looked at it and exclaimed, "You drive a clown car (Mini Copper)! That is so cool, do you get attacked by clowns when your out driving around?" She looked at me like I was crazy, so I explained that in Europe all the circuses are quite small afairs and one of the big things they do is have a couple of clowns drive crazy around the center of the arena chasing the Master of Ceremonies and the they come to an abrupt stop and the clows inside come tumbling out, mean while on the other side more clowns climb in through the open other side door and then they come tumbling out. So, to children it appears that the car was stiffed full of clowns! She oved the story! So I said if she wanted, she could come wash her clown car at my studio and if she liked she could wash it with or without clothes.

That next day she came over and did a shoot with her clown car in the back yard. I planned and set up the entire back yard with the big flash and all the colorful fun things. I went to Wall Mart and got all manner of bubble wands and extra bubble supplies. Planning for this type of shoot needs to be seamless so that when the model arrives you are ready to go.

I say this because so many on here want to know how I get women to model for me, well that is key, honesty and helping women to explore their fantasy. In addition I must say that having a studio with loads of gear and the accessories is important as well. By the way, the accessories are so important, and they are not cameras nor gear, it is girly accessories. Most of all, girls LOVE shoes, if you haven't figured that out yet, your way to asleep at the switch for help! I have racks of shoes, an 8 foot wall of shoes as you go into the room I call the model dressing room (Debbie Doll calls it the UN-Dressing room, she is vary naughty like VADA). Shoes are critical to the American female psyche. Put them in front of the shoe stand and watch the magic unfold. Get them to try the Baad Girl shoes, you know, the ones strippers wear. They all want to try them out, pull down some extra shoes and try them out. From there you build on the shoe as foundation. As women fall into the fantasy world of modeling and becoming naughty you start to build on the foundation of shoes.

Their kegs come next. I show then some hose, especially fishnets. I will have them pick out the fishnets and then explain that for the fishnets to look really great they need a pair if stockings under them. It shows the contour of the leg and makes the fishnets sparkle. Then we select some lingerie, like a corset or bustier. Women always ask me why I have so much of this and my answer is that at heart I'm a girl stuck in a big hulking boy chasse, which is probably a good thing because at heart I'm a closet lingerie slut! They love this sort of banter and silliness.

One of the keys to this all was told to me by one woman talking to another woman as they were getting dressed together in front of me. She told the other woman "Tim is impossible, you have to watch him! He will y to put clothes on you while you trying to get nide, He is such a funny one". I have learned to watch what women say and do when they take a moment to act out. It is a rare moment loaded with great truth.

After the shoot was finished the guys were packing up and I told VADA to go in and take as a shower and that I had put out Lubriderm for her to re-moisturize her skin (I use Dawn detergent because it froths up with loads of bubbles and actual washes the car, and the plants love it like a fertilizer.) Well, if your doing the photo shoot properly, the car will never get clean, so I dropped my shorts and with only sandals on I proceeded to wash VADA's Mini Coopper. The guys started making fun of me but that was just all part of the close of the shoot. Out come Ms. VADA from the building and stars laughing and come up and dumps a bucket of soapy water on me and poking at me laughing the whole time, then she pealed off all her clothes and started washing the car. The boys are back shooting pictures and VADA grabbed the hose and started wildly spray me with water. I garbed the hose and looked sternly at her, "If you get water on the idiots cameras you will wreck their gear, that was vary bad of you!" and she stopped and looked hurt. That is when I doused her with the hose and said, "Your so easy, what a dumb binny, now I got the hose and you will pay!" Which got us laughing and I even picked her up and dragged across top of the roof of the Mini and yelled "Clean that filth roof with your tits bitch!" and she was giggling and laughing the whole time.

Yes, she had to go put more Lubriderm on but it was a fun shoot. VADA ia the best, simple as that.

Meg. I would estimate I have some 10 thousand images of Meg. From 35mm to 8X10 cameras and all points in between.

This image is on 4X5 inch Polaroid Type 59ER (ER= Extended Range) material. The unique quality of the formed image is by way of the merger of an old dirt cheap Kodak Box Camera lens, and no shutter. The lenses diaphragm was also discarded. This type of optic is extremely basic and offers certain qualities of a 'soft focus' nature. I coupled this lens to the vary flexible Linhof Karden Bi view camera so that I could explore certain optical effects that the simple and anastigmat design offers. The Karden Bi is a bout as close to a working 'optical bench' that is a working view camera.

As you view the image look to the lower part of the image where the different cloths are arranged. This is where the disintegration of both color and image structure exist.

Taken from the 'classical' definition of what a model incorporates, we get the term 'Clothes Horse" from the world of fashion. Clothing on a mannequin is one thing, but not much better than seeing an article of clothing on a wire hanger. Clothes MUST be worn to have any true value as an art object. The body in wearing clothing activates and reveals the purpose that is the art of the clothing.

The still photograph can and should speak to the cloth and how it is articulated by the body. Using still photography we have the potential for what is known as the 'tableau vivant'.

In photography, the potential for the tableau vivant can be powerful. Applying a true optical representation of the optic disintegration of the 'poor' quality optic that renders in the style of the soft focus image we are allowed to activate and educate the viewer in realms that are quite radical.

Oh I most surely know that I am leading the viewer and reader into regions that are not known to most of the photographic audience. True optical soft focus photography is and can be quite mysterious. One is offered an alternative to the notion of clarity of the world of APO optics and the desire for clarity and sharpness. Many would think and speak of the pinhole image, but that is not the realm of soft focus images. In fact the world of pinhole images is quite in the opposite and wrong direction.

The world of soft focus images is the gate way to an area of images that is quite the opposite to pinhole images. Soft focus optics and image structure is found in a vary little know optical realm tat bears the name pin speck images.

If you want to find the only published article on pin speck images you will need to look in a past copy of the Journal Scientific American, the period is the 1970's and the article will be found in the section referred to as The Armature Scientist.

To answer the question, be assured, I never publish or post anything here that is a failed image. Focus and clarity is in photography (to quote an old position in the sciences) 'the hobgoblin of fools'.

I had known Meg way back in the day when I was just starting to work with models. Meg was always a fun and basically happy person who worked well with students as well as myself.

After years of going to collage she left to join the US Navy and I lost track of her.

Then one day I got a phone call from her at the school where we had worked together. She was back and going to collage working on a masters degree is business. She spoke about the old days and how she missed modeling. I had a rare opportunity the next week to shoot at a renovated warehouse with newly poured concrete floors that were covered with plastic as part of the curing process.

I explained the idea and Meg lite up, what costume then was her question. The idea was dance, modern dance which she has told me she had just begun taking, and I explained that I had just gotten a pair of full length culotte pants.

I should say, I did have studio flash gear and used it, but I wanted the movement in both clothing and in her body.
