Thanks for posting these, Audie. Very nicely done! I love to photography fog and storms too, but I'm not brave enough to try that lightening shot! I mean, WOW, look at all those streamers coming up from the ground! Was your hair standing on end?

Oh Yes, my hair always stands on end when I shoot lightning, cause I'm so excited just to be there. I do my best to stay in my comfort zone though. There have been times when I've had to pack up and leave real fast cause I stayed too long in one spot.

I really like the second one, Audie. I travel between CO and NC a lot, and don't take I70 anymore (always finding some new route), and have seen some pretty amazing places in KS.

A lot of people say that Ks. Is flat and ugly. But I believe that Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I find Many Many Beautiful sites in Ks. I live in the eastern part where there are Hills and Valleys. The second shot was off the north deck of my house. It took 2nd at the Greenwood County Fair last year.

Sorry, I didn't read her question well enough. Actually, I knew all along that you would not lie down 5' in front of a viper!!! There was a BIT of concern, however, which is why I completely forgot to complement you on you photographys!

Thank you very much!

Found These in my Backyard

Ummm, did you take a CLOSE look at the TAIL on the second shot??? Those are rattles my friend and from the count he's around 5 yrs old and probably as long as his age; and btw they can jump twice their body length when coiled.

The snakes that you see are from my 2nd post, the snake that she is asking about is on the 1st post. It is a King snake!! Please check my 1st post

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that head-on shot looks like a pit viper(specifically a rattlesnake.) Can't see the shape of his head well but believe I can see the "pits" in front of his eyes, hence the name pit viper, all of which are definitely poisonous! You got to wonder what he must have been thinking when you streached out on the ground 5 ft. in front of him!!

The only correction needed is to which snake she was asking about. The. Black and white striped one is a King snake and the Viper is definately a Rettlesnake! I was Not laying on the ground in front of the Rattlesnake! I was however on one knee at a greater distance of about 8 ft. Out of striking distance!

All amazing, but okay, how did you get that snake? It's amazing.

In all seriousness,----- I Layed on the ground in front of him!!

How close in front of him?

I used a Nikon 18 - 135 zoom, so i'd say about 5 feet in front of him. I wasn't too worried about him coming after me, as he waited for me to get out of my truck and get into position. He's not poisonous, so I wasn't too scared.
