I'm not usually a fan of birds eating....but the water lines behind the bird are really wonderful...but my favorite in the shot is the droplet of water falling from the fish's tail. Now that's fresh fish. All three are wonderful.

fantastic px. I agree...the reflection would have been incredible. Too bad you couldn't get a longer exposure time to glass it over.

I love this shot...reminds me of how I feel every time I've been in Utah....there's so much to look at...what do I give my attention to first! Beautiful...captures my memories. Great to see a photo with clouds that aren't blown out.

love the rings, like the flower shot...but the kiss is just too contrived...good try...but I'd like to see something a bit more natural, or softer for a wedding. Smart to be trying something out of the box.

Actually I'm eyeballing the Canon 60D because I have a Canon EOS Rebel X film camera and the lenses may interchange. I haven't decided for sure. The other camera I'm considering is the Nikon d90.

sure can be an expensive hobby....I'm selling the camera with the 18-55mm lens....if you change your mind...let me know. I'm not interested in a killing on the camera...just enough to lessen the guilt of such a big jump in so short a time...I wonder if there's a 12 step program for this hobby...photoholics annonomous

I drove 300 miles to photograph the Haceta Head Lighthouse, the most photographed lighthouse in the United States. I carried by best full sized tripod along with my Nikon D90 with a 300mm Sigma lens aboard. I used a remote timer so that the whole rig would be as stable as possible. I bracketed my shots to assure that I got the perfect exposure. I proudly packed everything up and headed home. I was excited to see the results.

I sat at my computer to load in the SD memory card when I noticed that there was already a card in the slot. It was the card that was supposed to be in my camera. I wasted hours on a 300 hundred mile ride to shoot nothing. What's even worse is that I had a spare SD card in my camera bag at the lighthouse but I didn't know I was shooting without one. Duh!

That is my worst shot. The one that got away. I quickly learned how to program my camera not to fire without a memory card in the camera. :(

OUCH!!!! That is a bad shot.. sorry..

I can feel your pain....similar story, I was in Page Arizona, went into the canyon...can't remember which one...left my camera bag in the van...shot px for 20 min...camera battery died...light changed in the canyon to a fire red/orange with glow/reflection all over the place.....lesson learned...never never never allow myself to be seperated from the "stuff" bag.

Hey!
Primes are set focal lengths like 24mm 35mm 50mm 85mm 105mm etc. Almost always way better IQ then zooms. They vary in prices- some are DX only (rather than FX and DX) made for the crop bodies. You use your feet to compose (distance to subject). Do you want some linkys to good ones for the money?

HA! BM and I posted at the same time- you can read it in STEREO!

Oh....duh. Which woulf you pick as the first to own? Is there a problem with the DX or FX on th d7000 (Bob...your input on this is welcome too)

I can see why you are into landscapes, beautiful! I've always wanted to go to Machu Picchu. But I also love your portrait shot.

The little girl is 6 yo. her job id to heard the sheep....there was no-one around for miles...just her, the puppy and the sheep. In the middle shot....you can see the sheep...she is the dot just beneath them...that shot was taken 2 hours later....she had arrived home. When I zoomed in on the photo during final processing...I found her in the photo. OneMoon adventure company is the trek organizer...all proceeds, resturants and lodgings benifit the tiny villages such as hers. inexpensive trip...but full of awe!

Dude is good....I've been called much worse...kind of like Dude. I shot the portrait with the 105...no extender...no filters (as evident in the blown out cloud in the top right). What are primes and how much will they set me back?

tripod yes, I got the extender because I wasn't thrilled about a buying a heavier lens....I have the 18-105...I'm into landscape rather than wildlife...and I wanted to reserve the money for the wideangle...I'm happy with the extender...with the d3000 I haven't noticed any distortion...that may or may not change with the D7000. I took some wonderful shots using the extender on a trek in Peru....every shot there was incredible. The planet at that altitude is breathtaking....in those px the landscape blurs the eye to any technique error. here's a few examples

I have an 18-105mm lens, that day I was playing with a new extender...1.4 The exposure was iso100 125mm f9 1/15sec. I was using a neutral density filter 4X
