If I could improve this it would be by getting rid of the part of a bird in the top right hand corner.. True a litlle more contrast would help

A lovely photograph, The ambient light in the sky, without doubt, really makes this shot. Had the sky have been black this shot would not have worked so well. A lesson to us all. Thanks for a great pic!!!

A very interesting picture. Massive DOF, was that achieved with 'Focus Stacking'?.. I was trying to figure out just how many images are combined here!.Just as an aside, those are not cobbles! they are 'set stones. We have a lot of streets here in Manchester with this type of surface and in actual fact very few are real cobblestones and are for the most part setstones. Where is the rain? wet stones look really atmospheric in mono prints.A very intriguing image, and if it triggers questions and comments a very successful image. Magic !

Nice and crisp and sharp, but what am I looking at?, There is no obvious point of interest. I think that there is just too much going on. Still, an interesting image.

I'm sure that you are well aware, 'A white Wedding Dress and the groom wearing very dark suit', Notoriously difficult to get a good balance. This is 1st Class!. Yes, certainly clone out the 'shoulder leak'.
For me, and this is a purely personal feeling, I would prefer to see a much shallower DOF,to help isolate the subjects from the background which looks too busy, and I would have moved the B&G slightly to the left so that her bouquet doesn't co-incide with the border plants. But I am being very 'picky'. This is an excellent image and one I'm sure the happy couple will be proud to see in their album.. You sould get a few re-rpint orders from that ! Keep up the good work!

For me, if I had shot this I would have underexposed it quite a bit.
There is too much included in the shot. crop nice and close and concentrate on the texture. Shoot it RAW, if you can, and change the exposure in the computer. then check the histogram , so that you capture as many tones as you can.
This subject is flooded with light that is flat and uninspiring, may be good for the display but totally unsuitable for your purposes. It just means that you will have to do the work yourself !!! Good Luck!

For me the horizontal image is the best, why?, in the verticle shot you have water disappearing out of the photo half way up the frame, and this takes the viewers eye away from the image itself, in the horizontal image the water leaves at the bottom corner. This I think is what makes that image far superior to the first. Still both good!

I would suggest that you do not enter this photo into the competition for the reasons already mentioned. There are no shortage of insects to photograph, take as many as you can and sooner or later you will find one that really pleases you. That will be the one to enter. Try take care and get your subject sharp , also, think about the composition and if neccessary crop your image to make a more pleasing photo. Keep it up , You'll find what your are looking for I'm sure. Don't get disheartened. Remember there is no hurry!

Canon 'L' series lenses are quite unbelieveable. I have three of them, they cost an arm and a leg but the reults are light years ahead of any other lenses I have had. As has already been said they are expensive, but you get what you pay for. Lovely image.

Lovely photo, I would like to see them combined using layers in photoshop. You could just bring the flower back to colour ( by selectivley erasing the black and white part.
I have tried this method with flowers myself and have had some quite pleasing resuts. why not give it a go.. Lovely photo

Great picture, I would love to have seen the hand that disappears off to the right, plus if you could have moved over to your right you may have been able to lose that very bright light source, the shadows would then be far more dramatic, as it is, that light takes the viewers eye away from the subject itself. But what a fantastic image it is.. Well done!

Nice picture, however, I think that had you spent some time walking around you may well have found a better viewpoint to shoot from. I agree with the last comment, the poles and background to the right distract from what is a very interesting image, plus you seem to be in a somewhat elevated position may be that also is a problem. A maxim that I always use, is Do not try to include too much in your photo, and shoot lots. It is easy enough to discard the unwanted ones when you are viewing then on your PC.. Keep up the good work, you obviously have an eye for a good image. !

For anyone contemplating a trip to the UK.
I live in the north in Manchester. As I am retired, I have lots of free time. Should you wish, I would be only too pleased to advise/ help/ accompany you to our area. We are only an hour or so from the beautifull Lake district and I will willingly accompany you so you may make the most of our most beautifull scenery. castles, old towns and villages, we have miriad of memorable locations.
I am not trying to make money. There will be no charge whatsoever. My only interest is in meeting folks, who like me, are avid photographers.
If I can advise on the technicalities, I would be pleased to do so.
