Great picture with good texture. I get close but the red seems to bleed and the texture is not crisp like your. Can you give me some idea of the lens or setting?? Thanks again and keep posting.

You can't argue with that!

A good camera in the hands of a lousy photographer will produce lousy photographs. A cheap camera in the hands of a good photographer will produce good photographs.

It's not the brand of camera that takes good photos, it is the photographer.

Words well said, I tend to be of the lousy variety.

Sorry to hear of your loss. We lost our girl "Charlie" (half yellow lab and half golden retriever) about 3 1/2 years ago when she was 9 1/2. Took us 3 years to get up the courage to get another dog as loosing the first one was so painful. Finally got a yellow lab female (Maxine, call her Max for short). Totally forgot how much work a puppy is, lol. I will look around the Minn area for you and if I find something will let you know right away. Good Luck !

I have that lens and love it. Clarity is better than I expected. Bought it probably 3 years ago. Good luck.

There is absolutely NO need to use a filter on that lens from a photographic standpoint. I use Nikon NC filters on most of my lenses while in the field shooting wildlife, but for lens protection only! Even though these lenses have 0.0% light falloff, I still remove them for critical shooting. I do use lens hoods when possible, but always keep a lens cap in place if I don't have the NC filter on. The newer Nikon "pinch style" caps allow me to use the cap with a deep hood, and still keep my lens clean and protected.

Thanks for the input, will do. Would you recommed getting a better quality filter and put it on? I have heard pluses and minuses about whether you should us them or not.

Tried to take off autofocus and go manual focus, same result. Moved the auto focus to "S" and moved the focal points down from 20 something to about 9 or so and theh down to 1 hoping that might help (take a lot of pics of birds in trees so need to reduce the focus points for that). Skyfilter is Promaster 62mm UV (MC) - bought it so long ago not sure if it was a cheapie or not. Used to have a 70-300 Nikkor but dropped it - god that was a nice crisp lens, wish I had it back. Swithed off VC when I have it mounted on a tripod - figured that out awhile back. Any help would be greatly appreciated - not looking too buy another lens this close after Christmas - lol. Thank you again.

I have the same issue with the Tamron SP 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di VC USD on my new D7000. I have been futsing with the AF-A to AF-S and AF-C to try and get a better focus but have not been able to get real clarity no matter what I try. Was looking at an 18-200 lens but was told the glass on the Tamron was better. Any ideas on what I can do to make things better? Thanks for the help.

George,

I plan on mounting it onto my D7000 with an adaptor that I just ordered. Not much money into the adaptor ($ 30) so figured why not try. Was told it would work so will set the camera to manual and go back to focusing like the good old days. Will this work?

Thanks

Rick

It is a Planar 1,4 / 50 with a red T and star on it. Serial number 6880726 - is this a good lens? Bought it so long ago, cannot remember.

So you are saying that the Zeiss is going to make good pics - assuming the idiot holding the camera does not mess it up? I bought this 1.4 many years ago and probably only used it twice - looking forward to using it again.
