Sadly due to a stalker who has been following/stalking me since my arrival at the forum, I'll have to leave this site for good. Even after being allowed to ignore this idiot, I still see their text. It's shame those whom really want to see my work, have to wade through the Bull Sh!t this stalker continues to post within my threads. Surprisingly, this stalker has yet to enter this thread and make some sort of snide remarks about the above images.

So to all those who have offered positive feedback and pleasant comments towards my work, I bid you peace and farewell.

Thee seems to be doubts in my findings and as I've said I'm not the only one encountering these issues with filters not working on ones camera. Then why are there others around several other forums having the same issues I am. This is just one of the more resent forum members who's been encountering the same issue I have.

https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/63554319

The only misinformation are those who continue to mock my words or are not open to the possibilities that Yes some filters do not work on some cameras. By no means have I said that these filter will work on all cameras.. I said some cameras and my M6 just happens to be one of those cameras those filters I've tested do not work.

The only reason someone would say that this is misinformation is because they have never encounters the issues I or several others have faced while attempting to use filters on their cameras. Just goes to show you. When one is not open to the possibility of things not going as plan, they hold stead face to the belief that if these filters work on their camera it should work on all cameras which is not the case.

Just another reason, I've taken it upon myself to create my own filters and yet, so far in my testing my space age materials have been working on my camera unlike the filters I've tested over the last year. It's a shame people continue to try and discredit my findings. I know what works for me and this will be the last time I bring up anything about filters. So if someone has a thought about wanting to us one of my filters, Currently I have a couple of yellow filters available but these can be held in front of the lens or placed in a Cokin lens mount. You will need a lens ring in order to use the lens mount.

The cheapest Cokin type setup is the Ranger ND filter kit which I've discarded the ND filters and kept all the rings, the Cokin mount and the Ranger Bag. (https://www.amazon.com/Rangers-Graduated-Adaptors-Carrying-Cleaning/dp/B019RT2GRY)

I anyone would like to test the Yellow filter on their cameras while taking Black & white images, direct message me and I'll send one of the last 2 filters remaining. As for the Fixed (35%-45%) polarization filter I'm still working on, I've yet to thoroughly test this setup and will know more this spring/summer and off these filters for those who have issues with using the main stream filter on their cameras.

Otherwise until you encounter issues with filters on your camera, no information is misinformation.

Edit: Just wanted to add.. You know when I've here reading these post to my wife, even before i finish my sentence, she answers to what she has seen and knows. She's been there when I was testing these filters on my camera and knows they do not work. Mind you she isn't a slouch when it comes to technology either. Not only with her support, I've contacted several camera shops, friends and family all who have some sort of photography experiences and they too are astounded that these filters do not work on my camera. So to all those who think I'm just pulling this sh!t out of the air.. you're not in my shoes or have technically minded friends in high places.

Really they don't work on all cameras? I do not intend on selling something to someone they can not use! That is not who I am!

I've avoided those who continue to discredit my testing of 6 major brands of filter on my Canon M6 so until someone with the same settings as my comes forward and claims other wise, Yes, those filters I've tested on my camera do not or did not work to achieve the desired results. Just so you know that if you're going to sell these just make sure the buyer knows some filters do not work with some cameras. I suspect it's one of two things with my camera. The internal settings or the fact that this camera is a second hand and some of the settings could be incorrect. By no means was I suggesting that you're going to sell something to someone without knowing what you're getting into. I've had better luck with using filter on my 35mm camera instead of any digital upgrade since then. So if they have worked for you in the past and they continue to work on your current camera then keep them. But if you're leaning towards using post processing afterward the filters are useless.

Q) Are you still upset that you were not happy with the placement of your photo. Is that why you turned over the details to your wife?

A) yes I'm still upset at how this was handled 1 year ago simply because I knew when I first arrived my image was placed right at the front door for all to see upon entering the venue. This was an idea location to have my image sold so that 90% of what I made on the sell of this image would have went to the children's center. This year it going to be different I'll not take things so personally and allow my wife to handle all the details of the exhibition. This way I wont go to the drop off and know where the print would be placed before hand.

SonyBug wrote:
Q) Why not give 100% to the charity. I have never heard of anyone that gave 90%.

A) Sure why not give 100% to charity.. but when you sign a release form stating that if your image is sold you're required to give charity 20% off the top.. So I though 90% or even 80% would be plausible for me so that I can at least walk away with something in my pocket. Doing stuff for free is one thing, But as a starving artist I need help too.

SonyBug wrote:
Q) Is the fact that you spent 3 hours staging the photo in any way relevant to the outcome?

A) 3 hour setup might not sound to you cause I suspect that you're physically able to manipulate your gear with ease because you're not hindered with limited or a debilitating issue with limited your range of motion or movement. Using the 3 hour reference doesn't mean anything to many of you, yet three hours of enduing pain means a lot to me. if I have a chance to do it again.. there would be a few things I'd change mainly attempt to achieve a long exposure, wishing for better light and less cloudy skies.

In other words, before anyone picks apart what others have said, think for a moment, You're not in my shoes or dealing with the issues I face everyday in order to achieve a shot like this.

Q) Do you enter prints or digital images for judging purposes?

A) In this instance, the host of this exhibit has asked that framed prints be submitted. There I've just return from the print shop & framers to have the two above images matted & framed. Both of these images should be completed within the next 2 weeks. I did the same thing last year which attached a large crowd as the frame shop. This year was no different. It's like when the frame shop knows I'm on my way, they gather up a small art/photo community or staff members to check out my latest work. Overwhelmingly, both of these images draw high praise and high expectations of seeing them in print form, matted and framed.

The Still Water print will be 21" x 12" and the Renamed "Totem Spirit Tree" will be 16" x 16". Once framed I'll post an image of the completed work like I did for the teddy bear print.

Thank you Photo friends.

I was just give the date and times to this exhibition: April 8 to May 1, 2020 a month long exhibition with thousands of high ranking NASA officials and other dignitaries constantly have conventions, hearings and meetings at the center.

Also, like last year, I get to select one image I want in the show, Still waters. but my wife gets to select an image she wants in the exhibit. This one taken late summer last years, "Alien Tree"

Allow me to reiterate what I've said for several years after testing 6 different filter manufactures filters. Filters used in this setup included but not limited to B&W, Lee, Tiffen, Gobe etc. After testing.. None of the Polarization or ND filters worked on my Canon M6 camera. No mater what the settings or condition, Neither the CPl or The linear filter would achieve any desired effect when taking photographs. I say this cause be mindful of who you sell your filter to as some of these filter will not work with some cameras again like my M6. There has also been others here and other forum sites claiming they to are having to deal with filters that simply do not work on their cameras. This all boils down to cameras like mine already have filter type settings integrated into each shot so a hardware filter is not needed.

Because of my years worth of testing and discovery, I've taken on creating my own filters in order to achieve the desired effects. My first successful attempt came while using a space aged yellow materiel, which wasn't designed to be used as a filter.

Because of this successful test of the yellow filter, I'm currently working on a fixed (35% -45%) polarization filter. Both the yellow and polar filters are 85mm x 100mm and fit into a Cokin lens mount. I can't say I'll place these filters on the market anytime soon, but I may start looking for product testers here at the forum and other photo forums.

So if the filters you have currently work with your gear, keep them or if you feel you want to sell them, be prepared to have some photographers send them back or want their money back cause they wont work on their set ups.

Many of you may or may not have seen this topic posted last year around this time: (https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-573129-1.html#9913464) Well it's that time again, and I was just sent another email asking that I please return to this years art & photo exhibition again held at the Kossiakoff Center to benefit the Johns Hopkins Children's Center.

Over this last year, I've thought hard about returning to this exhibition in the knowing that last year they moved my teddy bear print from an ideal spot right in front of the exhibition to a lesser shadowed location farther back.

This year, I'm turning things over to my wife and letting her make all the calls. However I was unsure as to what image or set of images to submit to the exhibit. Based on comments/support here as well as other sites, I've finally made my selection.

"Still Waters Solitary Tree" was the highest rated image from a number of photo sites I've ever produced. Taking me approx three hours to capture this shot on a cloudy day it took me that long just to get the mirroring gig set up correctly.

So thanks to many of you and your kind words of support, I'm going to submit this image in this years exhibition all to benefit the Johns Hopkins Children's Center.

I'll add more details as to the date and times when you can visit the Kossiakoff Center to see this print on display as well as bid on this matted & framed print all to benefit the Children center. Like last year, I'll be selling this print with 90% of the proceeds going to the Children's Center.

Threw together this wreath last week and took this shot. Using a newly acquired preset filter software, I created this image. The wife liked it so much we've order 20 sets of this photo as Christmas cards. Next year I'll create a new design and do it all over again. If you want one of these cards, Pm with your details.

Alter or adjust your angle towards the window or light. It's difficult to shoot these types of images simply because the window light over powers the composition. Set the camera up on a tripod and adjust higher or lower instead of directly in front of the window etc. I use natural light all the time for my shots as I do not like any flash elements. However, Have a few hand held mirrors on hand to redirect the light to other areas of the subjects. Also, goto home depot and pick up a sheet of soft colored film that adheres to the window, this will cut down on the glass and offer more of a soft light entering the home.

Here's a for instance: Using only a single light source entering from the window. I've placed that film over the window. The film's name is rice paper. It will allow light in, yet not allow for the harshness of the bright sunlight.

I call this one: Chopsticks Optional as I didn't have an chopsticks so I used bamboo squares. Although I wanted to keep the dark side of these items in the dark, one could use the hand held mirrors and redirect some of the light back onto the darker areas of the subjects.

Here's my latest, Simply called: "Shimmering Lakefront and Solitary Tree"

According to Gurushots, this image has earn 6,854 votes along with these ranks:

Top 10%
Top 20%
Top 20%
All Star

Premier

Members from sites like Fstoppers, DPreview & 500px claim this picture is impossible to have captured this way.. I got the inspiration form a trip taken back in 2015 while driving through TN. it had flooded the night before. The lake we drove by flooded over its banks and into a park. the water was above the shore like and left several trees stranded or suspended in the water. This image was taken a few months ago while driving through PA.

Gurushots has been the only site that has allowed me express myself and showcase my work and I don't have to put up with the BS being voiced here and those other sites. Do yourself a favor, get on Gurushots or viewbug, you'll thank me for it later.

RD..

I suspect what you're looking at is a reflection of sunlight on a boulder at the top of the hill. The sun was making its way over the hill behind me and was reflecting of this boulder. Not sure how one would correct this other than timing.

Here, I used the sunlight entering through our front window. Although it was a thin sliver of light it was enough to catch the edge of the container and smoke. I set the camera up on a tripod and focused on just the smoke. Not seen in this image is a chair & lamp in the background. though it was light or bright enough in the room to have seen both of these background elements. The camera's aperture adjusted to just see the smoke and blanked out the background. No other props were used or needed and no image enhancements done. What you see is what you get, or in this case it's what I ended up getting.

Took this pic somewhere in NY state head for PA. While the wife was in the old general store I went over to visit the covered bridge. Although I took some shots from in side the bridge, the weathered outer boards drew my attention.
