I did. Actually preferred the NEX-6 with the 16-50 lens to the Sony kit lens.
I ran an informal test on both of these cameras shooting at comparable ISOs and focal lengths. Frankly, I can't see where the A7 is in any way superior at moderate ISOs, at least on my computer screen which is an iMac with color calibration. Is this a fair comparison or would it be better to have enlargements made of each and compare them?
Thanks
This is my favorite state for photography. If you're going to Santa Fe, shoot the petroglyphs along the road north from Albuquerque. Make an excursion to the National Monument west of Santa Fe to see incredible Anazazi indian ruins, then go to Taos for some more great photo ops. Take the mountain road south from Santa Fe on the way back then, if you have time, go to Bosque Apache wildlife preserve south of Albuquerque for some of the most incredible bird photography ops in the country. Good shooting, Bill
It's a matter of focus. Manual focus, even using Sony's innovative focus aids is still laborious and difficult with existing lenses, particularly in low contrast situations and with hand-held exposures.
I haven't had another "Alpha camera experience" so I can't comment on the interface, but am happy to hear the interface has improved. Reviews I have read still contend that the jpeg quality is lacking. This is important since most of lenses from Sony/Zeiss internally correct for aberrations, but only in jpeg, and I prefer to shoot in RAW for all "keepers".
Thanks for your knowledgeable comments.

Nothing like the look of Kodachrome. I have some from 40 years ago that still look great.
I'm familiar with both of these photographers and have been to Pietown, NM. If you have a chance, this is still a great location along with the adjacent towns.

I have been using an NEX-6 for more than a year and think it is a quality full featured camera, but the software is far too complex and difficult to use and the start up time is way too long.
I looked at the a7 and loved the feel and features, but decided not to get this version until Sony learns how to simplify the operation, improve jpeg quality, decrease the start up time and make it more practical to use my Zeiss lenses from the firm era.
Mirrorless is the way of the future and Sony is on the leading edge, but before I invest in another camera and Sony's overly priced lenses I will wait for the aforementioned improvements.
Agree?

I have an nex-6 and never heard of the motion app. Could you tell me a little about it?
Thanks,
Bill
Interesting, but no date was mentioned. Do you know when this might happen and whether this format can be downloaded to existing cameras like my nex-6? Thanks, Bill
Nice shot. I'm curious: did you use a starburst filter or HDR or did you just shoot a small aperture?
Thanks,
Bill
Very nicely done photos of a special place. Thanks. By the way, I think the Indian adds a great deal to this photo. Bill
Best tutorial on lighting I've ever read. Thanks. Bill
Nicely done at Huntington Beach Pier. What software did you use?
Thanks,
Bill
Is that Emerald Bay?
