I had the same problem when I upgraded to a D7000 and shot is RAW as well as JPG whem using 2 cards. I went to Best Buy and they let me try a pair of Class 10 cards and it made all the difference in the world!!!! Bought a pair of Class 10 16GB cards for $39.90 right there and haven't had a problem since. Even shooting Montana Grizzley football an 10 degrees outside.......not that I was smart doing that, just that I cannot pass up a good opportunity! LOL

I've spent two days trying to find out what brand of the small point and shoot cameras use glass lens rather than plastic...
Does anyone know ? Would really appreciate info...
I carry a Nikon S6100 for a point and shoot, it features ED glass lense and has a 7x zoom. The touch screen is nice as well as the 16 megapixels! Its very compact and carries well in a shirt pocket. Best of all, its only $110 at Costco WITH a leather case and 4GB SD card included. I challenge anyone here to find a better deal. Only drawback in my opinion is that it doesn't use readily available AA batteries like my old Nikon L22 did, but it does charge off the USB port of my computer as well as the ones on my car and truck so I can always keep it charged while I am driving somewhere.
Good luck and happy shooting!
when I rename my photos am I changing the format of the new and or original photos?
as long as I keep the in my sd card without manipulating them ,I can see them fine.
I have a suspicion you are opening your SD card with a reader, and renaming them in that window. If so, your files will not be read again by your camera, but will be read by your computer. Try opening the card and then copying and saving the files to another folder before renaming them. That way you will have them on your computer named as you wish, and also still on your card to view in camera if you still want to. Your old pics may still be on your card, but in a different folder due to the name change. Use windows explorer to check the entire contents of your card to find out.
I use a Nikon D7000 which incorporates twin SD cards, one I have set to record Jpeg versions of my shot, and the other records it in RAW format for further editing. Its also handy to use the second card for video so I do not end up with two types of files on one card. Very handy feature.
Good luck!
I also shoot weddings with the D7000, and I have found that my Nikon 24-120 ED VR is indespensable!!!! I also carry a D90 with an 28-300mm VR lense for added capability and use this to also shoot video of the event. Two bodies are ALWAYS better than one. I also have 2 77mm FL filters for those churches bathed in flourescent lighting.
