You couldn't be more correct. I think that applies to most everything in life (you get what you pay for). I've always heard that pol filters work their best before 10:00am and after 3:00 pm because of the angle of the sun,. seeya David

I would always use a tripod with a pol filter if I had that option because just as ametha correctly stated, it requires 1/2/ stops more light. I prefer the cir/over the linier myself but the non rotating filter will work just as good IMHO just don't tighten the filter all the way, and then look through the viewfinder as you turn it clockwise or counter clockwise. I hope this has been helpful...seeya, david

I know it sounds bad, but in my over 40 years doing it, and the last time I was able to check my negatives they were in pristine condition.

When I first started developing my own film, ( B&W for about the first 10 years) I had a lot of bad negatives that were getting worse all the time.

My washing of my film left a lot to be desired.

One of my ex-wives *owns* all of my negatives, prints and slides and I haven't had access to any of them for 7 months this coming wed.

Anyway, that's all water under the bridge now.

I totally agree that you should do everything your own way, but I think you and others on this forum (who are still young) should give it a try on some old unimportant negatives and check on them about every year or so. I think about ten, twenty or even fifty years from now you'll be surprised.

Here's a tip you have probably covered a thousand times before, but if there's just one person who has been struggling with the *lint* problem, then maybe this will help them.

Get yourself one of those very soft rags that the eye doctor gives you whenever he gives you your prescription for glasses (every one I've seen were gold in color).

After your film has dried and before you make a print, check the negative you plan on enlarging under the bright light of the enlarger and look for any lint or anything else on the negative that you don't want in the print you have worked so hard to get.( I always did this if I saw anything or not). Take your thumb and index finger and rub your nose in the area where it is the most oily and grab the frame you want to enlarge and rub it between your fingers and then wipe it with the *golden rag* and wipe away all your dirt forever,.,.,.BTW,, Negatives are tougher than some may think and I've not had very much dirt in my photographs for a long long time. Thanks...

Hi Dec. You have no idea how much I envy you.
I've taken candid photographs/pictures @ street venues every chance I've had for, well I can't even remember how long now (you're almost as old as me and will understand that)..

I have hardening of the arteries in my brain and I forget a
whole bunch of things, but that's off topic "lol". I have other serious health problems as well, but what person
71 1/2 yo don't? OK, that was o/t as well. (Gonna stop talking about health issues now).

I'm not going to offer you any advice as you seem to have your style of photography down pretty dang good.

Subject matter and composition are almost everything in street photography, & it is in most every other kind of photography. Good luck and I'll be waiting on your post. David...

P.S. I normally didn't approach folks and ask them for their permission to photograph them, but if I had it to do all over again I would ask.

take a B&W photo and turn a rose that the subject is holding into a red flower again and leave the rest of it B&W? Thanks a lot. David1942

Hi Judith. I'm new here meself & was wondering if I was the newest member. I know I'm not the youngest because I'm 71yo.I've been just lurking in the shadows trying to learn some new digital tricks. So welcome, and I enjoyed your photographs. BTW. To me they're photographs and not snapshots, as "snapshots" means a picture where the photographer didn't put much or any thought into the end result. I only "borrow" photos that I think will help me in adobe elements 6. I delete them from my computer hard-drive after I work on them. If I need another one I "borrow" another. As far as the watermark goes I have seen a bunch on-line with just the photographers name across the bottom and I suppose that's what you mean by "watermark".If so you could just crop that part off. Thanks a lot. David

Hi My name is David. I'm really new on this site and I hope I picked the correct forum to post my question. After you work hard to get a photo, and then work hard on it in adobe, how can you be assured no one will steal it and claim it as their own photo? I "borrow" photos that I really like and wish I had taken it, but by right clicking I can claim it as my own? Is there a way to protect myself from such things as I just mentioned? Thanks a lot folks. David R. (ronny) Heald

I failed to note your name and I'm sorry for that. I did note you took one of the pictures @F/13 and another @ F/8. I was just wondering what the maximum f-stop is on that lens? Have any pics that you took with it wide open? Thanks in advance...Seeya David

Do you ever cover Adobe PS or Elements? I'm a 71 yo male (retired) and have over 50 years of experience with 35mm. I love photography today as much as I ever have. I'm having mucho problems with the whole digital world. I have a Canon sx160 camera that I bought about a year ago and I really enjoy it, but I'm used to going into my darkroom and making most of a bad negative when I need to. I only had a full darkroom for ~ 35 years. I'll try not to brag or bore you, but I was set up where I could make exhibition B&W photos right at home and Cebachrome (spelling) color prints all the way up to 40 in X 60 in. I have won numerous photo contest over the years and I think I have a very good "EYE" for photography even now I just got thru having caterac surgery on my right eye and I can see like I could at age 25.. enough for now.
