Until today, the smoke, heat and wind have made outdoor photography difficult. I will attempt to get out next week to some of the refuges in the area.

In the meantime, the attached set is the last of the wildflower shots I have from my hike up Albion Basin at Alta in July. These shots were taken just as the sun cleared the eastern mountains.

Downloads always provide the best view.

Mike, Great lighting in DL. Thanks for sharing your UT wildflower images. They are terrific.Stan

I had intended to spend an hour or so around the Depot getting a more comprehensive, architectural approach to the set of photos. To that end, I brought my DF with AF S Nikkor 24-120 1:4 mounted. Unfortunately, plans changed, so I had a very short time to get some photos, and at least give you a feel for the complex. The late afternoon light is attractive, I think. The photos by necessity along the Sunny side of the buildings.

Quote from the Historical Society
The Billings Depot was built in 1909 for use by three railroad companies: Northern Pacific, Great Northern, and Chicago, Burlington and Quincy. Designed in the Beaux Arts Eclectic style, the four original buildings included the main depot building, railroad lunch room, postal building and an office building. The depot building was designed by the Northern Pacific Railroad’s chief engineer and featured a spacious waiting area for 200 passengers, a gentlemen’s smoking room, a ladies’ waiting room, a baggage area and service offices. These buildings are the center of Billings’ town site district, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

A bit of trivia, it was used as a site to film scenes in the movie Far and Away with Tom Cruse and Nicole Kidman. Currently it is home to an award winning Wedding Venue.

I wanted to try out some handheld night shots on my recently acquired iPhone 12 Mini. This was touted to be an improvement over my old iPhone 7.

I would say the results are a definite improvement over what my old phone would have produced. The results would likely have been even better if I had used a tripod.

I took these yesterday evening in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Great technique on your handheld night shots.

I hit the trails at Idylwild WMA in Federalsburg, Caroline County, MD. Slaty Skimmers (Libellula incesta) was the dragon du jour. They were everywhere! I wanted to get out to survey the area before this weeks ridiculously hot and humid weather takes over. Here are a few of the critters I came across. I hope you enjoy them.

Checked all the cameras, changed and checked replacements in cameras that were low, some had less charge after replacement than expected. Never noticed a loss with down time in charged batteries before this, though I read about it, not enough use I suppose. Chargers all over the house for a while, everything now topped up. Just FYI.

Correct, no use drains the battery.
