Everyone has offered great suggestions. One not mentioned is the great opportunities before dawn and after sunset blue hour and during the night. If conditions are good amazing star photos over the canyon are possible. I took this photo in January at the Desert View Watchtower near the east entrance to the park. Just experiment and have fun!

that is a great shot very unique.

Good morning,
Heading to the Grand Canyon and Sedona. Any suggestions about what to look for, best time for shooting or lens preference?

morning light and afternoon light is the best. In both places everywhere you look has a great op. for great shots ;you are only limited by what type of shots you like to shoot.Have fun and enjoy the trip.

Train Vacation.
Going to Michigan in Sept round trip from Sandiego Ca and stopping in Williams Az on the way back and take the Grand Canyon train.Hope to have my travel plans straight.

sept. at the Grand Canyon is beautiful and the train from Williams to the G/C is a great trip.as far as getting around to the view points on the suttle you will not have any problems at all.You can get on and off whenever you want too. They run all day from the vistors center to all view points about every 30 mins. I hope you have a great trip. IF you are a triple A member they do have a great package for the G/C train trip. IT includes 2 nights in Williams and one night in a hotel at the G/C.

And now for some Horsepower, Roadrunner, in the way of a vehicle namesake.

nice looking roadrunner I really like the color ;is it a 68 or 69 with a 383 in it. from the people I talked to that owned them they were either really good running cars or had all kind of problems with them. I still see a lot of them at the car shows.

I enjoyed the meerkats and the big cat most. We visited that zoo many years ago.

at the zoo they have redone the area where the big cats are housed so they have more room to move around and interact with each other.this allows them to expierance more freedom and move from one enclosure to another.

pick up a copy of PhotoSecrets San Diego by Andrew Hudson it will show you everything in and around San Diego. The cost new is about $19.00 but IM sure you can find it on amazon for around $10.00. IT is also a good souvenir of the area. I hope you have a good trip.

I have been w/w rafting for years and what I have learned is this.If you take a good camera on the water make sure you use a w/p case to keep it in .you can always take it out of the case to take pictures then return it to the case when not in use.I also always take a w/p camera with me [ mine is a nicon aw100] for when I'm feeling lazy and just want to take quick shots. My last kayak trip was 6 days on Jackson lake in yelloowstone N.P .I got some great pictures while kayaking. As in doing anything with a camera around water you just have to be careful. If you would like to see some of the pictures I took I will dig them out and post them for you. Before that kayaking trip I had no expierence in a kayak other then a few leasons on mission bay in cal. Make sure your seat is adjusted right so you are comfortable or it will be a long day.

Brings back memories of my first motorcycle trip to the western USA, many years ago. We had spent the night in Williams AZ and rode up to the South rim the following morning. Someone said, "I wonder how long it would take to get from here to the north rim", and off we went. I don't remember exactly how long it took but we got there much later that afternoon.

from the south rim to the north rim is about 200 miles.I have driven it a few times and it is a long ride.
