It must have been wonderful to see the rhinos. I did see two in Kruger but they were a very long distance away and I didn't get any usable photos. Good on you!

Thank you ... & same comment to you as to Beth above ... I'm pleased with your comments as I thought you also posted some exquisite shots from Africa. And just wait ... if you like photos of Rhino's, Keith (RetiredCPO) got some great ones of both the Black & Southern White. Watch for his posts. On the flipside, I bet if I went back & reviewed your posts, you likely captured animals that I/we didn't. So no regrets.

I appreciate the visit & the comment.

Great info, I enjoy reading your narration that goes with the photos, which are once again very nice. Love the baby elephant!

Thanks Beth ... high praise coming from someone who in my opinion, did such a bang-up job posting African wildlife. I felt very lucky to capture that practically newborn nursing on it's mother (they say the grow quickly, so they're only a week or two old if they can still walk under Mama's belly). I also thought the one of the baby holding onto Mama's tail was kinda neat. Thanks for the visit & comment.

During a recent trip to Kenya, I spent most of my time at El Pejeta Conservancy, approximately a 4 hour drive due North of Nairobi, where I was able to shoot an amazing collection of wildlife. I've already posted some shots I got there on UHH, however, I've been saving the Predators for last. The 1st selection of predators I'd like to highlight, seem not to be the most popular critters here on the Hog. However, I find the Hyenas to be amazing ... sure, they are scavengers, but so is the Eagle, our national symbol. In fact, a recent post by CindyHouk ... Eagles are thieves!! ... put a fine point on how they survive by taking advantage of those around them.

So while I will admit, that I don't regard the Hyena as highly as I do the big cats (they just seem to look a bit sneaky & guilty when I look at them), they do exhibit qualities such as loyalty & teamwork ... they're tenacious & tough as hell ... & they clearly perform a needed function in their environment. They are so tough, they are sometimes competition even for the King of the Jungle, as you'll see in an upcoming post.

In many of my posts, I've tried to capture the babies, however Keith (RetiredCPO), who also went on this trip, did a better job capturing them then I did (see his earlier posts).

I hope you will enjoy the photos of these critters just as I enjoyed taking them.

blacks2 ... thank you sir, for the comment & thumbs up.

AzPicLady ... thanks for that positive comment & the good wishes for their work. I too hope they figure it out, but whether they can ever get a functioning population from 2 females, I'd be doubtful. But I'm an optimist, so hope springs eternal.

David in Dallas ... Awesome David. Appreciate the visit & comment.

Earnest Botello ... & I thank you for the visit & positive feedback Earnest. It's much appreciated.

Interesting that they have same number cervical vertebrae that homo sapiens have - 7- but mammals like us!

Now there's a fact I would never have suspected!!!!! Without hearing that from you, I'd have guessed it would be impossible given the length of their necks vs. ours. Thanks for the interesting fact.

Pixelmaven got there 1st ... I'm not sure what rules you might have broken ... those are nice images. The one thing I might suggest, is you can check "store original" & "Add Attachment" when posting photos in the future. That allows people to look at them closer. Thanks for sharing.

Nice shots Tom ... thanks for sharing them. We did not see anything like this ... but I have seen video of it. It can be pretty violent from what I hear. Great shots ... hope you share more. Frank

Outstanding shots David ... glad you shared them. We sadly, did not see a Leopard ... although we had hoped mightily to do so. We did see a Cheetah & Lions, both of which are upcoming posts.

Great set - love the zebra and giraffe combo - did you see them play fighting with each other?

No, unfortunately, we didn't see either the giraffe or zebras play fighting ... either would have been interesting, particularly the giraffes, which I've seen video of as the jousted. There were plenty of fights among the different types of antelope while we were there ... every day we saw at least one of those. Thanks for the visit & comment.

Thanks David. Entirely possible. We covered a lot of ground there. Thanks for the comment.
