Part of "The Greatest Generation" for sure. We owe our WW II vets a great deal. Those guys were not deployed for a year, but for the duration of the war. Don't believe I could have tolerated any more time in Vietnam than I spent.

My wife's uncle was a waist gunner in a B-17 and my mother's cousin fought in Italy with the 45th Inf. Division. Was the first American Indian awarded the Medal of Honor in WW II. An interesting story: https://www.nationalww2museum.org/war/articles/ernest-childers-medal-of-honor.

The only thing better than your photos, would be a ride in one of these.

I had the pleasure of flying in one. It was the " Nine-0-Nine" from the Collins foundation. It was lost a couple of years ago in a crash.

My father-in-law was a gunner/radio operator on the B-17 and was shot down over Yugoslavia, was captured by the Germans and was a prisoner-of-war. He and my mother-in-law returned in 1986 to the town where he stayed until he was captured. It's quite a story and he was quite a guy. He just passed 4 years ago at the age of 95. A terrific man!

My Dad was a B17 pilot. He flew 30 missions over Germany out of Bassingborne England. 91st Bomb Group.

What happened to watermelons? I remember watermelons being long, but over the years, they have gotten shorter. I agreed to bring a watermelon to a local picnic today, so I bought one yesterday. What I got was round and smaller that a basketball - for $8.00! After I cut through the 2" rind, how much will be left to eat? No more watermelons for me.

Funny. I just said to my wife the other day that watermelons used to be a lot bigger. You are right. The price has gone up and the size has gone down.

Thank you Kerry! We actually were at the Art Institute on Sunday that was literally at one of the many 'corners' of the race course. But, that was during the flooding rains of Sunday. When we came out, the rain had stopped, but the race had not yet started. Then, we were on the other side of the loop, eating, when they finally started the race. No pics.

That's about the way my luck runs too. Maybe next year.

I was downtown about 6:30 am Tuesday. Alas, that was too early to have the sun lighting the entire east-facing side of the Wrigley Building.

Instead, I wandered around and captured ideas in the area where the sun was shining between the buildings.

These manual focus lenses have no electronic communication to the digital camera. So, you need to set the aperture manually and focus the lens manually. I use a Metabones adapter for these FD lenses to Sony's E-mount on the a7II. As the camera can't communicate to the lens, I have to configure the camera to release the shutter with no lens mounted (detected).

I am fond of insects since I was a child. I don’t advocate their demise either because they have a purpose.

However the Lantern Fly is particularly invasive. Its ferocious appetite has caused considerable damage to plants and crops.

I'm afraid this is reality, not fantasy. FedEx didn't deny it. They said they would "vigorously defend the suit in court."

Still doubt the validity of the claim. Just not part of their corporate cullture.

This isn't the first time FedEx has been charged with this, but the current lawsuit is called the largest odometer scam in history. When a FedEx truck is basically worn out, they replace the odometer and drive it some more. Then they sell it as a low-mileage truck. If the case goes against them, the damages could be three times the amount they cheated each customer out of. I heard about this last night from Lehto's Law on YouTube. A good channel.

Not sure I believe that. Having driven for them for 18 years I can tell you that there fleet tractors never get traded out before 800,000 to 1,000,000 miles not 400,000. 400,000 is a relatively young tractor. Also they are very stringent on following DOT regulations. Drivers, mechanics, supervisors etc. were quickly fired for fudging any type of DOT reports. If there is any truth to this, then it is probably some of there owner operators who would be selling there vehicles independently of FedEx.
