I just spent the best two hours I have ever had with my granddaughters going down memory lane of the thousands of photographs I have taken of family events. That said, they came up with a question I need to address for the future. What is a quick and easy way to label all these photographs so the people in them can be identified when all of us old folk aren't around? I have already had this happen with prints from my grandmother who never wrote anything down on the multitude of pictures she took. Ideas? Suggestions? Remember I have literally thousands of pictures over many years to catalog.

I find that when I add the data to the metafile, earlier I did this by adding info in the "caption" slot in Picasa, now by using the metadata file in LR5, the information is displayed automatically when viewing the pictures via "slideshow" mode, which works for me (and hopefully forever).

Even away from the National Parks Utah has some spectacular landscape.

Beautiful shots of an interesting landscape, I particularly like # 1 and 5 - thanks for sharing.

Very nice photos of an area just full of superlatives!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Bob 71, Even though we had seen some pictures of the area which enticed us to do this trip, the massive beauty of colors and structures still took us by surprise, very worth discovering! Thanks for watching and commenting.

Thanks for looking at the pictures and your comments - the reaction of so many of Hoggers will encourage me to post again - and yes, I am definitely a color guy!

The colors really pop in these!

Thanks raymondh for looking and commenting - Northwestern Argentina is a still rather undiscovered place but brilliant if you want stunning colors.

Thank you, it definitely is the vivid colors, together with the fantastic strata structures that make this area so interesting and unique - Thanks for watching and commenting!

To All: Thanks for looking and commenting. I have to close down now as we are heading for the airport for a new adventure, and will not be able to respond to any comments for some 20 hours.
Have a great day.

Awesome Cathedrals and beautiful red rocks and mountains. Excellent series.

We did have quite an interesting drive, also through other parts of Northern Argentina, but the Cafayate/Salta area with the colors were definitely the high light. Thanks for commenting.

Your post is already in the Gallery section. The way it works is that the posts move to the top of Gallery each time there is a comment. If a post is getting a lot of comments, it stays in the first 1-2 pages of Gallery. A post entered this very morning could already be down to page 3 of Gallery if there has been a lot of activity on other previous posts. When you look at the list of posts, notice the column that says First Post--it lists the contributor, the date, and then two numbers. The first number is the number of comments, the second number is the times viewed. That's where you can see the level of activity on each post.

Thank you Diane, now I see it and start to understand how it really works - cool system!

Man, I love the colors on the mountainside in the last photo

Thanks, Sammy, yes, that was an absolutely spectacular area, with actually so many more different colors. Some of the other pictures I wanted to post didn't take, I guess the files were too big. If you are interested, access the Andean Northwest album on my website, the colors are stunning and I am happy with quite a few of the shots.

welcome to UHH
I am not sure how they decide what photos actually get posted in the gallery section...look in the new topics and everything is there whether it makes it to the gallery or not.

Thank you Plessner, that explains a few things - interesting that they would only selectively post to the gallery section - I am sure I missed a whole bunch of good submissions by other users. But I chalk it up to experience/the learning curve and hope that one of these days one of my submissions will make it to the "real thing".
Thank you for looking, commenting and educating me in the ways of UHH!

Gorgeous series, Joe--you did an especially beautiful job capturing the Cathedral a night! Glad you now have a presence on the Hog.

Thanks Diane, for your comments and your encouragement, without that, I wouldn't have dared to post some pictures!

Thank you for looking and commenting - I will endeavor to keep going, but first right now I am going again - over to Europe for 7 weeks and hopefully loads of more pictures!
